Well we are already flying in composite passenger planes and our skies are defended by fighter planes made of composites so if the quality is maintained their shouldn't be any problem. Beside that most of the sports, super and race car use generous amount of composites. And now US military is running a competition to adopt new small arms in which one of the competitors cartridge case is made of mostly of polymer with steel base.

Tail Gate is made of plastic because it help in improved Radar set up when car needs 360 degree situational awareness.. If any one think plastics is a weak material in terms of metal then it's is because they are not aware of modern.material science . it is custom make to have flexural modulus (stiffness) from < 1000 MPA to 10000 MPA> based on users custom made requirements.. In fact whole Dream liner fussilage and interior is made from composite carbon and polyester resins . COMPOSITE Fibre which comes from a plastics family . Plastics inhibit extreme durability and weathering resistance due to unique chemistry.

How did you get to know that plastic omnium is the manufacturer of Tail gate for XUV 700 ??? You’re clearly sponsored by Mahnindra & Mahindra don’t lie. We can read between the lines and we know what’s happening behind the curtains. If plastic was so expensive to make then rolls Royce would’ve made its body out of plastic. While other manufacturers such as VW and Tata are made of complete raw steel, this Mahindra is made of plastic. I don’t agree to the point . Okay, the big question is What is the kerb weight of XUV 700 then ? No one is disclosing this information about its weight. Hey people be wise don’t spend your hard earned money on plastic junk, go for Tata or VW they give you solid metal. In case of a crash if your tailgate is metal, it will absorb the impact and deform due to its tensile strength, in case of plastic, it will be destroyed completely. And all those luxury cars you mentioned like LR, Jaguar, Citroen all these cars are rated worst for their quality in Europe. Do your research first before giving us facts.

Still a hard pill to swallow. You can’t drive around a broken plastic but a dented part can be. Steel can be dented but it can be painted and damage can be hidden to some level. Plastic need replacement. Screwed in plastic get loose sooner ans rattles but in metal it can be thread tight. XUV 500 interior has rattle issues. As I have no doubt that 700 will rattle more. But I guess time will tell
