Mahito falls into the Shigaraki category of evolving villains. His twisted personality, contempt for human beings, and overwhelming potential freed this character from the limiting shackles that many have. So, I suppose he could have reached incredible levels of power, but he was created in the wrong time. A lot like popular smaller businesses that get undercut and bought out, Mahito was undercut vicariously through Yuji by Sukuna and bought out by Ken Jaku.

Gege and Horikoshi are friends and there’s many similarities in their villain who directly rivals the mc. Both activate their ability by touching things but also evolve to a point where the hand touch is no longer needed, gain a form that boosts their physical stats to godly levels, make efforts to kill people directly in front of the mc to set them off, hopefully their ends of being absorbed won’t end up the same

I feel like people are overlooking the fact that Kenjaku was able to use idle transfiguration at range to targets he previously marked. Mahito had the potential to use idle transfiguration at range. Now Im sure like there were some conditions to use it beyond physical touch (marking them beforehand, no fatal transformation, etc.) but it makes me wonder when the hell did Mahito learn that or was that Kenjaku applying his knowledge of the curse energy to the technique to have it perform on that level? If Mahito was more interested in manipulating rather than just killing with his technique I am genuinely more terrified of what he could be capable of.

Kenjaku needed Mahito to evolve before doing that. Geto's curse technique takes a curse and their abilities, but they cannot get stronger, the opposite of Megumi's. Megumi's Shikigamis can get stronger, develop, and be fused with another Shikigami for amp strength/versatility. Kenjaku was waiting for Mahito to develop before devouring him.

When I think about it, Mahito is like Minato or Itachi in that they had to die young because they were made too OP. If Minato did not die against the kyuubi and if Itachi wasn't sick and dying, the story of Naruto would've had a lot less drama. With Mahito it's the opposite. If he kept growing, evolving, and improving, he'd wipe out most of the cast. The Culling Games would be centered around him rather than Cursed Users of old returning from the dead.

Well it's reasonable, he's the human curse. Shape like a human and evil to the core just like Sukuna, only thing is Sukuna started as a human. Mahito's much stronger because he's reached the level of mastering control over his domain within months after birth, a prodigy of the curses world. The variety ways of his skill application is just insane, and one of the reason why JJK is so welll written is Mahito follows the rule of the strongests, which is to care about nothing other than his own purposes and interests. With his progress, if Gege didn't let him die to fulfill the purpose of the culling game. JJK would have ended within his 4th fight.

He was relatively young, especially considering how a lot of them are essentially embodiments of some negative aspect of humanity. I don't think it's been stated, so I would guess someone like Jogo would be a lot older (not old enough to date back to the Heian, but older than a lot of the characters, especially since he embodies the fear of volcanoes.. in Japan..). Mahito was a toddler by cursed-spirit standards, so he would definitely have been a problem if he was allowed to stick around as long as Jogo.

Agreed. I saw a tweet saying this when ryu said what he did. It's even stated by sukuna that the reason jogo wanted mahito as leader was because mahito was the mirror of death to humans and that he'd continue to grow stronger. I'd go a step further and say that if mahito was in sukuna's era, he would've gotten stronger at a faster pace. He seemed to get stronger on the spot in order to defeat the person in front of him. So he would of been broken if he was surrounded by the peak of jujutsu sorcerery.

This video just popped back up in my recommended and honestly seeing how Sukuna beat Gojo I think this was really accurate. The way Mahito absorbed new experiences and improved on the fly reminds me of Sukuna to a scary degree. He's legit the only other character we've seen replicate high level jujutsu techniques after seeing them once, which points to a level of jujutsu understanding and innate talent heading towards the realm of the strongest. I legit think if Mahito survived a few more years the only one who'd be able to stop him would've been Gojo and if that didn't happen he'd eventually get to Sukuna level.

Mahito is easily one of if not the scariest character in this series, we don't know the full scope of Sukina yet and there may be others in the wings for sure, but he's so unsettling and childish, it's like watching a kid pluck wings off a fly out of sheer curiosity and delight. He never got to fully mature, if he had say managed to escape Yuji and not get absorbed by Getto, I shudder to think what he would have done. Developed more abilities, make new plans and with his ability to learn, adapt quickly high intelligence and more combat experiences. Add to that being importantly aware of who his natural enemies in the story are, come back stronger and far more devious than ever before. If he had managed to take out Nubara and even Yuji I think that's potentially checkmate, I don't know who is left to stop him.

We gonna blow over the fact that Yuta was able to learn advanced reverse cursed technique on the fly to heal other people which even Satoru cannot do not even a week into his first introduction to Jujutsu outside of Rika being with him, was able to use a binding vow in his first ever serious fight, all while training in martial arts enough to match Geto who was distinctly proud of his own martial prowess for a summoner, and learned to use his own innate technique without any training what so ever to copy other peoples innate techniques, and to a lot of degrees like cursed speech, use it better than it's original owner? Which is also dwarfed by the fact that as Sukuna puts it, the manipulation of cursed energy comes a /lot/ easier to cursed spirits than it does human beings.

I only made it to 5 min and I know no one can refute this. I believe we all felt it while reading. Mahito’s potential was endless and what made him scary was that he realized that. He grew after his 1st serious battle and knew it was from the passion of battle he felt. He then shared this knowledge and helped Hanami grow as well. When he hit Yuji w that Black Flash after killing Nanami it blew my mind. I think his potential was so great because humans have great potential and he is the HUMAN curse spirit. Only rebuttal I can think of is that he didn’t get Sukana’s approval like Jogo. Yet they never had a 1v1 either

Yuta definitley grew almost as fast as mahito. Only took him less than a year to go from complete beginner to second strongest in the verse, only behind gojo. Mahito went from just born to second strongest cursed spirit between spring (when yuji joined jjkhigh) and October 31st.

this is exactly why i believe that mayhaps it was on purpose Sukuna made everybody fear him on a whole nother level enough to be dubbed "King of Curses" back when he was still human, bcuz he feeds off of that negative emotions as a curse user (maybe even literally, who knows) it's what making him powerful, and as long as people fear him he'd continue to be strong. And "it grows stronger everyday" because hundred yrs passed and ppl are STILL afraid of him. Remember Sukuna is very manipulative especially when he can gain something out of it. He made sure he's feared and written in history as terrible as possible to gain power. And anyone can go that route, making someone else another Sukuna, except Sukuna has already taken that title and it'll be difficult for ppl to change their minds once an established villain in their heads already exists. So whether Sukuna can be dethroned from that title, it will take a lot of time and effort, more than the effort Sukuna may have done in the first place.

From the moment i saw Mahito it gave me chills the way he behaved and evolved. At some point i was saying to myself " This dude will end as the final villain of the series" I was shocked when i saw him get killed.. I still don't know if he's dead.. There's a chance he isn't..and there might be a chance he's eating at Geto from the inside( if he got absorbed ). Something along the line of the Toguro brother from YYH that got eaten by a user and in the end took control over the hosts body..

Mahito, yuta, higiruma, and megumi has the greatest potential all 3 learning high level techniques and the first fight they get pushed yuta becoming a special grade 2 times in like 3 months even while not having the mindset needed till later and higiruma got RCT and a domain within a few months

While perhaps not intentional Mahito also mirrors Megumi when it comes to strength/skill in sorcery. Potential and a busted ass technique. The real difference is mindset like Gojo says. Megumi wasn't ready to believe in himself and let himself grow in tense moments, he didn't try his best because he knew he had Mahoraga. Mahito when faced with danger took it head on and grew from it. Mahito was only alive for less than a year (5 months is what I've heard) and he mastered Domain Expansion, was the first curse to land a Black Flash, the second character to use a Blink Domain (0.2 second domain), landed a second Black Flash, fleshed out his technique in creative ways MID BATTLE and gained a new transformation. Through all of that he was experimenting with the technique he was given and he had the most selfish egotistical mindset. Mahito (repeat, SKILL-WISE) is what Megumi could've been. Megumi is SIXTEEN years old, has probably been a sorcerer for at least 5 years and is still 2nd Grade. He has a technique to rival and beat out the Limitless/Six-eyes to a draw and he does jackshit with it. Megumi vs Reggie and the other fodder was probably the worst fight in JJK. Takaba was a highlight but Megumi trying to act cool after using his DE on fodder was disappointing. He has Gojo to train him but he does it so often that Gojo remarked how little he does when he did ask to train him. Gojo straight up told him "It's not a matter of potential, it's just your mindset" he has more potential than Yuji in his own words. Reminder Yuji was one of the three Sorcerers said to surpass special-grade, so Megumi could if he were more selfish and experimental. I don't hate Megumi I just hate what was done with him. If we had more moments like when he used his Domain for the first time and he looked psychotic much like his foster father. Look back and try and find another moment like that, I'll be waiting patiently.

I really wish Yuji ended up eating Mahito’s brain at the end of their fight to try and steal his technique and heal Kugisaki with it. Idle Transfiguration is a really fascinating power with mechanics that could produce tons of interesting fights, and it would be the ultimate post-mortem insult to Mahito for his prized Cursed Technique to be stolen by his archrival.

I'd say the only character comparable to Mahito who started sprinting when coming to their potential to become a calamity, it'd be Yuta. Yuta has been hyped up enough but truly just like Yuji mirrors Yuta & Yuji mirrors Mahito. So too does Mahito converge into Yuta. Yuta though not making a domain expansion, is responsible for creating the "queen of curses" from his excess cursed energy alone. Man as a literal child created a special grade level curse that became so strong that Geto firmly believed he would've been set if he had her. Then also proceeded to body Geto with 50% of his spirits but a special grade sorcerer nonetheless, so hard half his body was destroyed & at this time he only knew how to control the flow of his cursed energy, not his cursed technique. Yuji's clear sign of being someone that was quite special beyond being able to survive taking in the king of curses, it is the fact he is the undisputed king of the black flash. To do a black flash at will is something unheard of even for someone like Gojo who has the six eyes thus theoretically should be able to do it. Once Yuji gets Sukuna'a cursed technique, truly this kid is destined to be the prince of curses with his ability to evolve even in the amidst of battle like Mahito. Only thing shackling them is: Yuji's guilt & will to save others but it can be overcomed by Yuji's will to kill curses. Yuta's compassionate nature which we've seen Yuta is willing to turn off but he needs a desire to fully commit too. If Yuta embraces a selfish desire he can become that calamity. He's already a step ahead of Gojo when he was younger, now he just needs that extra push to drive him to be "the strongest". Megumi's shackle is his sister. Remove the shackles & the broken three from the past will rise once more. With the shadowy fourth being Maki.

I would say that Toji was in the realm of "the strongest" and Maki is on track to get there. Yuji, Yuta (depending on his domain abilities), Hakari, and Megumi (if he gets his body back) also have the potential to get there as well I'd like to think.

Yuta, by definition is unable to reach the realm of the strongest. He doesn't have the desire to fight selfishly, stated even by himself. It's why I believe Kenjaku dismissed him, along side of the fact that he didn't know Yuta still has access to his own version of Rika. Yuta's personality doesn't fit the bill for transcending his own limits like Sukuna, Gojo or Mahito does. They may all naturally become stronger, and may surpass them as time goes on. But the STRONGEST requires something different. You have to be built mentally different.
