Maidenhair Ferns - How to Identify Them! || Nerdy About Nature Flora Guide

Ahh, the lovely, lacy, elegant, delicate, beautiful Western Maidenhair fern - one of my all time favorites! This truly is one of the most gorgeous ferns we have sprinkled throughout Cascadia, often found in moist humus-rich soils alongside creeks or in the splash zones of waterfalls. They get their name from their thin, tall glossy blackish-purple stipes which sort of resembles strands of wet black hair, and they have these vibrant kelly-green paper-thin leaves that repel water easily and flutter in the breeze in, whew, just the most gorgeous way! 10/10 recommend stopping to admire these if you ever come across them, they're beauts!

Adiantum aleuticum, and no I wouldn't submerge them, they need constant running freshwater
