Laying it Down, as usual. Love your videos. This topic is close to home. I live and work in the drier regions of North America. The Southern Cascade Mountains, the Klamath-Trinity Mountains, the Sierra Mountains, and the Basin and Range of Eastern Washington, Oregon, and California. All store immense amount of carbon, but that carbon sequestration ability and storage gets lost when catastrophic wildfire comes through. So I promote active ecologically based stewardship of these forests. We must care for them, otherwise we lose them

Where using surface Carbon IS technically better than using fossil Carbon, this grinding an ecosystem down to the nub for the raw material is an eco-crime. What a terrible thing to do.

Collectivism/socialism/communism NEVER work because they are EVIL. Anyone that advocates the initiation of the use of FORCE against others is EVIL. When government confiscates the property of taxpayers, they initiate FORCE. Initiation of FORCE is evil - ALWAYS. You can disagree with me - that's fine. You're wrong - but that's fine. I won't respond to idiotic comments.

Even if I agree that the wealthy are not taxed high enough, which I basically do, then you can't tax people on the assets they own. You can only tax them when they're selling. If I own stocks and they go up, you want me to pay taxes on that? Will you reimburse me when they go down? And what if you start a company and you're successful. The company may be worth a lot of money because you're running it well, but owning assets isn't the same as holding cash. You can't pay 5% of your company to the government. You'd have to sell your company just to pay the taxes on it. And will the company you worked so hard on even be worth that much when someone else is running it? Potential buyers might know that without you it won't be as successful so no one will even want to buy it for the estimated price. The whole idea of paying taxes on assets you hold is ridiculous. There's a reason you only pay taxes once you sell and get cash. Also, who would be doing the estimations of people's assets? An army of more government employees going over all people's assets? How much is my stamp collection worth? My grandfather gave me his silver pocket watch to remember him by, will I have to pay higher taxes on it if the price of silver goes up? Nobody wants to live like that. Also, forcing small and midsized businesses to sell 5% of themselves to investors every year just so the owners could pay taxes would cause a total economic collapse.

what is a 'fair share?' My ventures combine generate $400,000 in income for the governments both nationally and locally (US) through payroll taxes, property taxes, sales taxes, etc.. Me personally, those ventures combine to generate less than $100,000 of annual income to live from. The US and my state get to extract 4x more money from my small business than I do. 'Wealth tax' takes away from the net worth of companies and will result in downsizing the number of employees hired or retained.
@johnnynick362112 күн бұрын
They are not "extracting" money - they are "extorting" money. They are using the threat of jail and violence against you to "take" your money against your will. We MUST call these things what they really are if we are ever to change people's minds.

@betadevb15 күн бұрын
I don't even know why this garbage is in my feed. I am too far libertarian to ever buy into this bullshit again. Taxes only exist to steal your savings, which eventually central banking devalues. We need less government across the board. Defund the government.

I wish people would stop entrusting their welfare to entities that care nothing for them and forcibly leeches all rights, freedom, and wealth into a cesspool of power tripping, silver spoon having jackasses. Like govts and s-corps.
@tom2324516 күн бұрын
You're assuming 1. Taxes are used appropriately. Appropriately is highly contentious. 2. The market doesn't try to overcharge the government because tax money is now so readily available. 3. Bureaucracy doesn't exist. Good luck with that. 4. The people don't just vote for short-term benefits at long-term expense like the Baby Boomers did. This isn't to say that wealth inequality isn't an issue that needs to be solved, but simply taxing the rich doesn't work. We need to disincentivize massive wealth accumulation in the first place.
@SamC37915 күн бұрын

@johnnynick362112 күн бұрын
Wealth inequality is NOT an issue. There is no reason wealth should ever be equal. Ability is not equal. Motivation to succeed is not equal. Effort is not equal. It is moronic to think the outcome should be equal.

@@johnnynick3621You are suggesting that as a society we should value hard work over kindness/generosity. One could work hard to become rich but this usually only leads to personal gain, and in some cases is even done in extremely unethical ways. However there are other people in this world who work equally as hard for things like non-profits, that actually benefit our society. For example, Ross (Nerdy about nature) here works really hard to make these videos for us yet due to the low popularity of this channel received little to no money out of this. He does this only to share his knowledge and ideas with us and hope to make a positive impact. So personally I think this kind of work should be valued more than the greedy selfish one of the richest 1%.

@@Gibbonologist Yes, Gibbon, I definitely value work, intelligence and motivation over kindness and generosity. Every human is selfish - we ALL act in our own best interests. That does NOT require rational people to cause HARM to others - that is IRRATIONAL. But acting in one's own rational self-interest is moral and necessary for life. I hold NO VALUE in the good intentions of others. I rely on the productivity of others - and they rely on MY productivity. We trade voluntarily - value for value. We neither seek alms from each other nor attempt to FORCE each other to provide what we seek. Hard work, by itself, earns NO reward. Unless your work results in the production of things others want and are willing to trade for, hard work accomplishes nothing. Try digging a ditch in your yard and then filling it in when you are done. You worked hard but accomplished nothing. You earned nothing. We are at a crossroad in building a civilization. Man is NOT naturally civilized. Man is inclined toward violence - using FORCE to take what he wants and needs. The act of civilizing man requires that we teach men that using FORCE to acquire what we want is uncivilized and will NOT be tolerated in society. Most of you are not yet civilized. You advocate the initiation of FORCE to acquire your wants and needs. Most of the Earth's societies are actually going backward - away from civilization - toward violence and anarchy. In a civilized society - initiation of the use of FORCE is ALWAYS immoral. In EVERY instance and for ANY purpose - including your good intentions.

He does NOT have a good heart. Stop doing that. He is advocating that the government use FORCE against a certain class of people and threaten to put them in prison unless they give up property they own. That is extortion. That is evil. It doesn't matter WHY they are doing it. Using FORCE to take people's rightful property is ALWAYS wrong.

Why not take all the money away from the rich? Anybody thought why we in Canada have no industry? Why is it that people don't want to open business here, at all? Sure, keep taxing - that surely helps creating new jobs...the wealthy just love taking on the risk and then if it works out - pay all the profits in taxes....
