Some Chinese parents may want to stay with their children for many years, but more Chinese parents only come to visit children once a while or when the working couple need help. My parents and the majority of Chinese parents they met in US are the latter ones. Those who have stable income after retirement would rather live in a place with many old friends.

应该是比较普遍的现象。我认识不少来美国的老人，大部分是女士更容易适应，也更愿意开口学习说简单英语。我爸是退休大学教授，还靠着字典翻译过一些专业英文文献，可是他在美国不太敢开口。我妈以前就是认识英语字母的水平，但在美国生活的时候，和邻居去上社区教会办的英语班，虽然边学边忘，但是她能用零星单词和人有效沟通😂 他们和朋友结伴坐公交出去逛，主要靠我妈和老外沟通，我们都很佩服她
