Really excited to see the Master System video! I own two, one is crapped out, the one I bought as a kid has so-so power input but works. Watching your vids has made me feel way more comfortable witn the idea of opening these many systems and games I have and repairing them as needed; the fact I have some soldering experience has me looking at a lot of this thinking "hey, I can do that!" Where do you get replacement flex cables from? I've found one seller on Ebay, but shipping to Canada is too expensive and they won't send them uninsured in case they get lost. Very frustrating as ive got 3 bad controllers, but im not willing to spend $50 each to fix them
@JetScreamer_YT
@JetScreamer_YT 4 жыл бұрын
@@RetroRepairs When you pay me $50, you're getting far more than a flex cable. Your button's carbon is likely broken down, and will cease to function. I replace the boot using the right tool to disconnect the knob from the top half of the body. There's a bunch of other stuff. Best Electronics is where parts are sold. I think they have a $20 minimum, but I don't know if they will insist on giving insurance if they ship internationally.

Nice haul of stuff there, I'd nearly put money on there being a dying/dead cap in that Nomad the way the LED flashed when you turned it on. Also if the Master System doesn't work when you first plug it in and turn it on check the voltage regulator first, most common cause of failure when they don't power on.

@calvo131

You can’t swap the chips using a Japanese board, as it is different. I have previously done a chip swap with a Pokémon crystal game. You need to use a game called Trade and Battle: Card hero. It uses an identical board to Crystal.
