I don’t think I’ve ever been so impressed by anyone else’ organization. You could make a book yourself and sell it to potential hikers. Great accomplishment.

Dang girl!!! I am so impressed. That spread sheet is amazing. So much work involved, you are definitely in a league of your own. Also, you always make me laugh. I had noticed the stain on your shirt and then you flashed up the "pay no attention to the stains on my Shirt". I will definitely be following you on your journey, you have gained my interest. Hopefully, I will be class of 2025. Good luck!!!

as others have mentioned, i really enjoy how you laid this out and how you plan all of your resupply boxes. one of my favourite things about a trip is the planning phase and all of the preparation put into it. this year, i think i will dehydrate all of my own meals rather than purchasing the pre-made meals to save some money. i have been experimenting with my dehydrator and have made a few good meals already. thanks for sharing!

Kara, I want to wish you good luck and a safe journey on your through-hike. Your editing skills are impressive and I had a good laugh at the Sasquatch bit and the funny face characteristics. I'm confident that you'll complete the hike this time with your prior experience. I have a feeling that your videos will have a positive impact on other hikers due to your ability to articulate your hiking preparedness. As an introvert, I understand that you may feel uncomfortable behind the camera but it has its advantages, especially when it comes to details. You can do this! You should consider writing a book about your adventures afterward, as I'm sure it will inspire others.

I like mailing boxes because you don’t have to spend so much time shopping. A good idea is to make your boxes standout because general deliver is sometimes overlooked at the usps & a bright tape or colored marker on them might help.

Thank you for your support and kind comment, @amerphoto1. I appreciate your kind words...but...I can't take all of the credit. Someone originally gave me their list. I changed it for my purposes and added a few things, but the general idea of how to figure out how many meals I'd need for each drop, I cannot take credit for. STILL, it does take a lot of organization and prep to actually carry it out. Haha...just wait until the videos of me on the trail start coming through. You might have to eat your words about me being 'trail trash'. ;-) Thank you, all the same. :-)

So, what types of meals did you dehydrate?
@ReboundontheAT7 ай бұрын
If I can pull it off, I've got another video in the works. I have a very wide variety this time. Some of my recipes came from Backpacking Chef's book, and others came from other books and online. Most of them have some kind of veggies and meat plus rice, pasta and a few with mashed potatoes. I have Mexican, Italian, American and Chinese! :-) I think the key to not getting board with stuff is having a wide variety of flavors and textures.

I think you could sell your mail drop data, like AWOL does with their guide, it's that good! Seriously.

I am sure your approach to prep/packing between your first and second hike was different...or VERY different. Do you find that the prep/packaging for #3 is varying much from hike #2?
@ReboundontheAT7 ай бұрын
My approach this time was amazingly similar, believe it or not. It has worked so well, that I've kept it the same. I'd say the major difference in my drops is the dehydrated meals. This time, instead of cooking a meal and then dehydrating it, I dehydrated all of the ingredients separately and put them together to make a meal. Dehydrating a complete meal that was cooked together never tasted like the original. The flavors sort of morphed and didn't taste that great. With this other method I'm using this time, after tasting them, I think they taste much better than the other way, and surprisingly, it seemed to take less time to dehydrate all of the ingredients separately, and then put them together. That sort of surprised me. I was also able to give myself a lot more variety, which I think will make meal time more pleasant. Other than that, the Scrubzz this year vs. wet wipes to clean up after a day of sweating might be a game-changer for me. The key for maildrops is just to keep everything organized. It sort of has to be, or it won't work. Thank you for watching, and for your comment. 😊 I was afraid no one would watch, because it's 25 minutes long. Either that or my voice would put people to sleep!😅

@@ReboundontheAT I have to be honest, I watch almost ALL KZbin videos at 2x speed so the duration wasn’t an issue. You should go watch yourself at 2x, especially the special version of ‘you’ halfway through.

@@1988texasaggie I, too, watch most videos at 2X speed. The whole time I was editing my video, I kept thinking, "WHY DOES SHE SPEAK SO SLOWLY!! I wish I could speed it up!!" I think everyone should watch my videos at 2X speed. LOL. I will definitely go back and watch that part at 2X speed!
