awesome video, thank you. watched four out of the series so far but I plan to watch them all. Hopefully one day I'll be able to watch all of your videos on all the different openings you did lol. Aspire to just know this as simple as you make it sound

I will be very honest, to learn everything from this video, i have spent 2hours 30 minutes non stop even though it was just a 30 min video. Im just around 1500 Fide so I definitely don't think my opponents will know this thoery but this opening knowledge will be important in the long run :)

Nice one Stephan, this will now be my main d4 opening.

The final position is +0.6 now according to the engine. 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e6 3. g3 d5 4. Nf3 dxc4 5. Bg2 a6 6. O-O Nc6 7. e3 Bd7 8. Qe2 b5 9. b3 cxb3 10. axb3 Be7 11. Bb2 (11. Bd2) 11... O-O 12. Rc1 Nb4 13. Ne5 Nfd5 14. Na3 Be8 15. e4 Nb6 16. Nc2 a5 17. Nxb4 Bxb4 18. Nc6 Bxc6 19. Rxc6 a4 20. Rac1 a3 21. Ba1 Ra7 22. Qxb5 Qe7. Instead, it seems like black equalizes after 20... axb3, leading to many trades and an equal endgame.

6:03 Why is it okay to take on c7 before taking the rook? Can't the rook just escape??
@anthonylayne73 жыл бұрын
7. Nbd2 is actually a good position it’s strategically bad for black to take on d4. White gets good play and complete compensation even if they play b5.

Is there any difference between playing dxc4 firstly or playing Be7 followed by dxc4?

#suggestion Hello sir I have been watching your videos for a long time as an 1100 rated player I want to say it would be really nice to make a summary video Where you can teach all basic ideas and basic lines of an opening and how to punish opponent if they play wrong move . Btw thanks for the great content .😀😀
@marathashahi7114 жыл бұрын
Well I guess the ‘Introduction to (that particular opening)’ gives a basic summary and idea which you want!
@Archerforthelord4 жыл бұрын
that's what this video is... there's not a "punish" to every move. If a move violates an opening principle then the way you would take advantage of it is increasing development or activity.
@Hypercube17293 жыл бұрын
If you are a 1100 player you really shouldn't waste time watching opening videos. Openings really doesn't matter at least until your're a class A plyer, say 1700 - 1800 rated. Before that level you can just do tactics, and try not to blunder your pieces, and just play sound opening principles like occupy the center, deveop your knights and bishops, castle, look for tactics and weaknesses to exploit. That's because as a 1100 player you wouldn't understand how to punish a person who don't know the opening and just plays some other random move. You then need alot of tactical and strategical understanding to know how to make advantage on the fact that the opponent doesn't know the opening.

Can we play catalan against KID?
@HangingPawns4 жыл бұрын
You get a fianchetto KID. So not a real Catalan. For example 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. g3 Bg7 4. Bg2 O-O 5. Nc3 d6
@Josh-ed3sf4 жыл бұрын
@@HangingPawns to elaborate on what you said here.. as someone who is a d4 player/ catalan player./ 1. Nf3 / 1. g3 player... you can do this setup vs. mostly anything that black does against 1. d4 or Nf3. (many times you end up with a reverse gruenfeld for example if Nf3 d5 g3 c5 Bg2 Nc6 d4 - then you can play c4 whenever. - but you don't really get the true style of the "Catalan bishop" against the KID. but the setup still works (Edit: I am saying I agree - but am giving more detail to the original poster since I have played this for yearssss)
@kmdsummon3 жыл бұрын
@@Josh-ed3sf you can, but this setup will not win or equalise your games unless you dive deeper and learn most lines. Which is the opposite to London system, where you remember the set up and it is quite easy to play even with modest moves you will come up over the board.
