There ought to be a video for ~1000 rated players for when you try to do a catalan and your opponent gets confused because they haven't seen it before and does some whack shit you haven't seen before and now everyone's confused.
@MrNadav19953 жыл бұрын
lol he has a video on developing an opening repertoire and mentions this idea "you know what to play against the good moves, you don't know what to play against the bad moves" When you study an opening you have to study the bad moves as well..especially at lower levels. I play the scotch and besides the main lines people play 3.d6?? quite frequently so I learned what to do against that and how the game changes as a result..

I think below 1700 in blitz, people will never stumble into these main lines, they will play something completely random in Catalan :)
@ziodice61663 жыл бұрын
@@nikolacvetkovic4549 I've seen 800s play entire mainline openings - it's rare, sure, but by no means impossible. additionally - "completely random" is honestly pretty insulting - no one above like 500 on any of the main sites is playing 'completely random' moves, they're not about to play main lines but it's insulting to pretend that anyone below 1700 isn't going to be playing decent moves even if they are intuiting them rather than pulling from theory

A nice guide to only begin to consider the ideas behind a number of lines. I would also suggest that this video is a micro approach to White understanding various ideas against semi-Meran setups by black (of course with K-side fianchetto) and that the potential transpositions go beyond what were mentioned... There were lines which could potentially even arise after advanced number of moves in the Exchange French. what eventually results is from both players' decisions regarding pawn and center transformations, and this video provides some valuable ideas behind such decisions.

What do u recomend for opening for black i dont want to learn super many lines at the moment what is the best opening with not many variations agianst e4 and d4
@leofisher12804 жыл бұрын
if you want simple against e4 you could try learning e4 e5, and then you can avoid the more complex variations and stick to stuff like the Italian game. for d4 you can usually just pick one system like the King's Indian and play that against whatever white wants to do

I would suggest you the caro khan or the petrov for e4 openings ( the French is not bad either ) and the Benoni for d4 . At least that was what I used to do when I was playing in a lower level , except that it is a surprise weapon you will have the initiative and the chance to select your line , even though you may not know the top tier openings ( spanish , Italian schotch for e4 and queens gambit , indian,nimzo,Catalan for d4) :)
