I went for a ride recently on my CF Moto 800MT Explore with a mate who rode his Honda CB500X to the Goomburra Section of Main Range National Park. We rode in vis Goomburra Road just south of Allora but you can also get access via the Cunningham Highway. The National Park offers two great camping areas on Dalrymple Creek with plenty of flat camping areas, shade and some fire pits. Toilets are standard National Park toilets...byo dunny rolls and no showers. Private businesses at the entrance to the NP offer a range of accommodation ranging from camping to cabins and Farmstay. The camping in these private camping areas offer a better style of amenity with hot showers.
The private camping providers also cater for 4x4 and motorcycle enduro enthusiasts with their extensive range of "easy to difficult" offroad vehicle trails. Some of these trails extend to the summit of surrounding ranges and offer extensive and refreshing views.
The NP gives visitors access to a range of short-day hikes to multi-day excursions where you need to be fully independent. Hiking trails are beautiful with scenic views, waterfalls, rainforest and swimming-holes.
Follow all local National Park and Private Accommodation provider guidelines regarding the dangers involved with some of the local activities on offer. Also be aware that the private properties are working cattle businesses and cattle have "Right of Way" on the roads and will camp on the dirt roads at night for warmth.
