Thanks for this overview, Harley! I just got a Stagg (an 81st birthday present!!) and I can tell right away that it will be a considerable learning curve. I'm a very amateur player, but adequate for jams and I usually play a standard 4-string Fender, or a 3/4 length, or a great little UBass I take out to other jams, because it's so light and sounds unexpectedly good! But I've wanted an upright for 20 years, and my wife told me she'd buy one for my birthday, so here it is. Months of practice will be needed to figure out where all the notes are relative to a fretless I also play sometimes, but I'm looking forward to it! Thanks again!

Thank you for the comment and for subscribing to our channel! Adjusting to an upright after a lifetime of playing a traditional fretted bass is a bit of a challenge, but youll find its fun and more of a technique thing. Keep on playin! Dont give up!

I’m planning on getting one of these soon. After tax and warranty I’m gonna have to pay 800, luckily I’m spoiled asf so I got 500 for my birthday. Also now that I’m 14 I can get a job, so once I get one I’ll be able to afford it. Looks and sounds awesome, thanks for the helpful video, CANNOT wait to get mine!

Recently ordered one to dip my toe into upright after many years as a bass guitarist. Looking forward to learning what, in many respects, will be an entirely new instrument.

I’m looking into buying one and this video is great help. I play electric and this is a challenge I want to take on!

That honey color is cheaper! I just got one for $650. End pin will rattle on you, easiest fix…take thumb screw out and thread it into fitting on back of body to hold pin tight against inside of body.

Thanks for the comment and for subscribing! Thanks for the advice on the pin, although Ive not experienced that issue.

I would be so mad if this was all we could get. This doesn’t sound anything like an actual upright at all. If u save up all you can and get a Yamaha silent bass

Thanks for the comment and for subscribing to the channel! Only an actual Upright Bass will give you the 'true' tone and presence of an upright bass! No argument there. That being said, this is a respectable alternative. In this video I wasnt using any EQ or preamp that would also likely help sculpt the tone. Anyways, I appreciate the discourse

They make pitch correction software LOL. Great and informative otherwise. Thank you!

Thanks for the comment and for subscribing to the channel! Yeah, the problem with doing 'live streams' is that there isnt the luxury of correcting little issue like that! But hey! I appreciate you pointing it out....it will help me 'be better' for next time! (BTW its 'You're' not 'Your' LOL)
