I lived in Powell from late 1987 thru 1989....I arrived on a Greyhound Bus ( to Frannie if I remember correctly ) I stayed at the LampLighter , got a job with RL Manning , rode approx 70 miles to the Rig ( with entire crew ) each way , i got paid right at $10/hr in worms corner working 6 on 2 off and rotated tours after each week......Good memories !!

Went to college there in the late 90s....super easy school. Then I went to a university at Uof M in Missoula, and realized easy times were over and actually had to study, lol. Hart to believe the China Town diner is still there.

Dropped by 3.5 years ago to see the town named after me. Very impressed.

At 4:01 of the video, the building to the right was the bank outlaw Earl Durand (Tarzan of the Tetons) was gunned down at in 1939. The original door was replaced by the double windows facing us (southside), you can look for chips in the bricks around the entrance from the gun fire. Tipton Cox shot him from a gas station south across the street (that is now Millstone and Hansel and Gretel's before that).

Yep, you're right. Not difficult to find bullet holes in the walls. I actually knew Tip Cox when I was a kid, he was pretty old by then but a really nice guy.

Hasn't changed much since we moved 52 years ago. Always wished we were back. Great place.
