Those trails are a great ride. i’m from around that area. I’m from bingham right where you gassed up. i ride those trails all summer another good trail is to hit it up to the forks and maybe jackman too from bingham moscow you just go down stream road and continue following it where you would normally turn right to go to the wind towers. Great video.

@@marknoyes9611 60" is mandated for all ATV/ snowmobile trails in maine. It is what the landowners want too. If the landowners get pissed about bigger machines they can shut down their section of trail and so there goes the whole trail system for that area.

Looks like a great trip. I love the fact you guys do all of these road trips. I live in Cole Harbour, NS and would love to get the usual guys to go and spend a weekend ATVing in different provinces. Hatfield McCoy is on our list, but we love to camp (not in campgrounds) and from what I gather, you can't camp in the back country. It'll make for a nice trip when the wives join and we stay at cabins or hotels, just a little different from what our channel is about. Regardless, impressive what they've done with the trail system.

I thought I’d watch a couple videos on some of the ATV trails here in Maine to get an idea what area I might want to try first. We just purchased a new larger 1000cc two up machine for our homestead here in the County and thought maybe we would try the trails. I’ve watched several videos of folks running these trails and quite frankly, I don’t see the attraction. I’ll have to try it of course, but it seems like a long day of beating and banging around with nothing to really do or see, all that wear and tear on the machine doesn’t seem worth it. Again, I’ll have to give it a try.

Sorry for the delay in responding. I somehow missed your post when you first posted it. I hope you've tried running the trails and were able to find some enjoyment in it. They certainly can be fun especially if you find the right trail network. Thanks for watching, and taking the time to post a message.

Great video, very informative, thanks for sharing. We were actually looking at staying at Balsam next summer so your video was very helpful. It will be our first trip to Maine and that area in general. Based on your brief videos, the trails seem pretty closed off by the trees. Other than lakes areas are there places where the trails open up and offer nice panoramic views of the beautiful Maine landscape? From the trails you had the time to ride did you find any mountainous views in this area? Again, thanks for sharing your experience.

Thanks I'm glad the video helped. There weren't a lot of nice views unfortunately like the one's you're looking for so that was a little disappointing. If you want views, check out Newfoundland. @EastCoastATV6 жыл бұрын
Craig Weir Many places will fit 60" or wider machines. There are a few, especially in the South Shore around Bridgewater where 60" is currently the max but I've seen 62" or bigger out there. Nova Scotia just came out with a new mandate that the trails will accommodate 64" in a few years. Maine is limited to 60" I believe but my machine is 62" and I had no problem there. Thanks for the post! Glad you liked the videos.

We are looking for places to go. I just finished building a 66" wide RZR.
@SkeldZ066 жыл бұрын
There are only some places in Maine (certain landowners) that are set at 60". Most of it is down by the Stud Mill Rd. area, and some is in western Maine. Also CMP (Central Maine Power) wants 60" on their right of ways I think. A lot of people do have 64" machines here. Personally I have a 60" RZR 4 900, and it still doesn't fit through some of the gates made for the 60" areas.

If I register my atv in Maine and go to Nova Scotia to ride do I need to do anything there for registration for my atv?
@quaddingsous6 жыл бұрын
Those were some really nice trails; especially starting around the 9 min mark or so. What kind of permits and licenses did you have to buy to ride on the streets/roads & use the trails? I found it interesting when you were talking about "buying tracks" from someone. What is stopping you from giving those same tracks, or your tracks (now that you've been there), to someone else? I can't imagine how that guy would make much money. How much did you pay for them? Just curious if I should be selling mine and subsidizing my retirement income - LOL Nicely done video. I like your narrating. Thanx for sharin'!
@EastCoastATV6 жыл бұрын
Hey Quaddingsous thanks for watching. Since I live in Canada I had to purchase a non-resident ATV Trail Pass. It's $53 US for a 7 day pass and $68 for a year pass. We bought 1 year passes in case we decided to go back again within the year. There is usually a free ATV weekend for non-residents that live in other States or Canadian Provinces. This year it was Aug 10-12. I didn't really buy ATV Tracks but what I bought was a nice map set for Maine. It included trails, roads, gas stations, motels etc and it had high resolution satellite view maps underneath. I installed it on my phone in a GPS App called OSMand. There's nothing to keep me from sharing that information with other people I guess, but I won't. You should sell yours too, why not? Thanks for commenting. Here's the link to purchase a non-resident pass on line www.maine.gov/ifw/atv-snowmobile/atv/laws-rules.html#registration.
@quaddingsous6 жыл бұрын
Ahhhhh, OK, that makes more sense (about the GPS purchase). That's a good package to have, especially knowing where all the services are located. Regarding the trail pass . . . I'm assuming it allows you to ride on the paved roads in designated areas? (to fuel up, get to your hotel, etc.) Not that I'm planning on going to Maine, but the info about the trail management is good as we are currently trying to set something like this up in Saskatchewan. Thanx for the info my friend!

How did you get the maps to layout on the app your using? I have the Avenza app and have used that app before to run trails in Vermont, it loads the VT state transportation map PDF's and you can navigate real time without cell service, are you doing the same thing or is there just downloadable maps of those trails in Maine?

Back then I was using an old iPad with a GPS app called LeadNav with a waterproof case. Now I use a Samsung Galaxy Tab E with Locus Maps Pro. I much prefer Locus Maps. Any tablet or cell phone with a GPS chip, which is most of them, will act as a great GPS for you. Download your maps so you don't need cell signal and the GPS still works great. Go to my website product review page and scroll down until you see the tablet cases. I hope that helps. www.crossingnewfoundlandbyatv.com/product-reviews
