The primary difference is that the Norwegian Forrest Cat probably has Emperor posters hidden somewhere, and could explain to you the difference between Black Metal and Death Metal. This is normal.

I saw a group of Norwegian forest cats build a Viking longship (only 14 feet long, but held 30 cats) to cross a wide river and attacked cats from village on opposite shore, stole all their food, took some of their females as slaves, burned down a church, took the gold, and enslaved four dogs that weren’t smart enough to run when they first hit the beach... While I was impressed, I’m thinking I should probably get a different breed, the NFCs look a tad “difficult.”

I have a Norwegian forest cat! I think. She started hanging around my house mother's day weekend. I just knew my cat would try to kill her. Little did i know they were already acquainted. A month later she had a litter of kittens at my house. It's the cat house now. I just live there.☺

Wow, you said a mouthful. Reflecting the gaze of a cat with eye contact seems an appropriate connection with another "living being" which we barely understand. I care for a group of strays and feral ones and have considerable respect for their presence and living around me. Kindness seems the key to being healthy and content, btw - like opossums also, very subdued humble folks.

We had a Norwegian and he was the bomb. What intelligence and loyalty and love. 19 LBS. I'm certain that if you give a pet the respect that hey deserve that they will all be receptive and acknowledge the care and love that they receive. That's how it was for us. He was a tiny small stray that we saved and he made certain that we knew how much he appreciated us every day. He was wide and solid. I carry a tiny plastic zip bag with his fur with me daily. He was "that" special. He really was.

ChrisBell Mapogos my mc boy is just about 2 years and 17 lbs; he isn’t even that fluffy yet, read it’s about another year or two of growth and the fluffy coat coming in. He is great with kids, and knows when to give you space, which cannot be said about the other two mutt cats in the house. MCs are very intelligent and have an amazing disposition. I’m wondering if my cat from my teens was a Norwegian mix (adopted stray kitten), as she was super fluffy and very loyal/attached, but smaller than this boy is now. Love fluff balls. Two MCs and two Poms in the future for sure

I read in a magazine that Norwegian forest cats like to climb trees more than any other breed and that they get down of the trees by quickly running around the trunk (like squirrels do) instead of going down in a straight line one bit at a time facing upwards (like all the domestic cats I've seen).

Idk about the loyalty thing, I've had a Norwegian Forest Cat for about 2 years and I got him when he was about 1 year old. We found him behind my house around the dumpsters and he was so skinny, flies everywhere no friendly at all. He still looked pretty even with his dirty flee infested coat. He wouldn't walk up to me at all, I wanted him really bad. So we started giving him food and after about a month he let us pet him. He still was not friendly, my dad tried to pick him up once and he won't forget what his arm looked like after that. Some time passed we get him to the vet and texted he had worms, explains why he wasn't gaining weight, we got everything fixed and took him home. He is still an inside outside cat but he loves us now. Most loving and cuddly cat I have ever owned. I also have no idea why someone would abandon a 600$+ kitten. He looks like he is also full blooded Norwegian Forest.

Some people really suck. Scanning through available pets in shelters the story of abandoned pets is all too common. I would never abandon an animal once I take one in. Yet too many people get them for their bratty stupid kids to whom they cannot say "no" and when after a few months the little snot nosed kid gets bored with his new living "toy", the animal becomes unwanted.

???????If you say the head is the most telling sign to tell them apart, then you should tell what these signs are. Now you are doing Trumpian / Republican de Vos educational tricks, i.e. pretending to teach people something while in actual fact making them more confused. Nowhere in your film you say which is which. You could, for starters put "Maine Coon" on the screen when you show a main coon. THIS IS A VERY BAD VIDEO AND MAKES PEOPLE MORE CONFUSED. IMHO, Norwegian's aren't Always friendly. I rescued 2 yrs old, "Wegie", declawed, prefers outside most of the time, even on near 0°, freezing cold nights. it may be due to the fact that he was declawed before he came to live with me. HE doesn't want to be touched, and he'll bite! I've been told some declawed cats become antisocial after declaw procedure, and not want to be touched. Has anyone else experienced this with a Norwegian Forest Cat? Is your Wegie friendly or 🐅 Yakoke😻 thank you

The differences are only a matter of degree. Genetic testing and genome mapping has shown that, without a doubt, Maine Coons are descendents of Norwegian Forest Cats crossed with domestic breeds. When comparing the two, all you are really observing is a degree of dilution. Maine Coons get many of their distinctive behaviors and physical traits ...their size, coat, friendly demeanor, loyalty, intelligence and fascination with moving water directly from the Norwegian Forest Cats. Many cat fanciers and breeders don't like it , but genes don't lie. I have had both breeds and they are so similar it is uncanny. We had a Maine Coon male for 16 years and now we have a two year old Norwegian Forest Cat also a male. They may look a little different , but they behave in almost exactly the same ways. Our Maine Coon weighed 20 pounds and our Norwegian weighs 17 1/2 pounds, but he is still growing.

We had Norwegian and a Maine coone growing up. Al, and Baby. Al was the Maine Coone. He liked everyone's shoes. Baby was smaller, because she was a tiny girl, but she was Mom's gentle giant. She died of depression after Mom 😥 passed, even though Dad took really good care of her. She just was that attached to Mom; so, larger breeds can have deep connections to one person, which makes them great service animals.

Nope - the Wegie does not have all around even length of hair and it has two coats of hair which are different in type . cattime.com/cat-breeds/norwegian-forest-cats

The weatherproof double coat varies in length. The “bib” begins with a short collar at the neck, “mutton chops” on the side and a full frontal ruff. Full britches-long hair on the thighs-cover the hind legs. On the body the coat is long and flowing, but it changes with the seasons. A Wegie in summer looks relatively naked compared to his full winter glory. The coat comes in almost every color and pattern, with or without white, with the exceptions of chocolate, lavender or lilac, or a pointed pattern like that of the Siamese.

There are clear differences in the shape of the heads. On the other hand, Norwegian Forest cats and Siberians are almost identical.

Quite right that Norwegians are less keen on children - my neighbours had a 4-year-old son and then got a puppy as well. Their Norwegian decided that the dog was the last straw and went round the houses prospecting for new humans... and so then we had him for the next 13 years. To be fair, he would smile at any passing humans, but boisterous little boys were his limit. He was the coolest cat ever - never saw him break into a trot, let alone run, in all those years.

Well, I just wasted two minutes and twenty-one seconds of my life, plus the time it took me to type this redundant comment since you know there was no point to making this video except to show off your high-priced, purebred cats that no doubt came from a breeder. Since you have so many, I'd be willing to guess that you're a breeder. Aren't there enough unwanted cats in this world without you irresponsibly making more of them every two months? Shameful.
