LOL, You must not have noticed how things work in the past few years. Of course he won't be charged. Hell, he didn't even get fired, they allowed him to resign so he could keep all his benefits. This will not be investigated, I doubt he was even questioned. Qualified immunity is 100% UNConstitutional. It is even specifically forbidden in the Constitution. Even 248 years ago they knew the steps to a totally tyrannical government, and so far, our current Government is taking every single one of them.

Not necessarily- until the detectives make a case (the accusation of falsifying is just that, at this point…) and the DA decides to prosecute, the likelihood of an arrest would be minimal. Even with cops, you need to have ‘probable cause’ to make an arrest. Lying does not necessarily automatically present probable cause

UPDATE: "WASHBURN, Maine (AP) - A body found alongside the Aroostook River this week was a man whose disappearance prompted multiple searches in northern Maine, according the state medical examiner. The medical examiner's office said the cause of Erik Foote's death was "pending" further tests. The March 29 arrest of a Washburn police officer, Chandler Cole, for allegedly falsifying police records related to the case drew additional attention to Foote's disappearance in the town of 1,500. Cole changed a police report to indicate he dropped Foote off at a hospital after seeing him walking along a road, but the hospital denied it, investigators said. Cole has declined comment. Foote, who was last seen on Jan. 30, was a U.S. Army veteran whose family said he was suffering from post traumatic stress disorder who moved to Washburn with his parents about a year and a half ago from Arizona. Cole, who resigned in February before his arrest, remains free on $2,500 bail. The Aroostook County Sheriff's Office is now handling the investigation, and the Washburn Police Department is inactive due to the chief's retirement and lack of staff."

@@chrisc2683 It certainly more like a reasonable conclusion than "sensationalist". Guy is found dead in a river, after the last person to see him alive is proven to have lied about where he dropped him off, including the fact that the manner in which he lied (falsifying police records) is itself a crime. Honestly, why do think the officer committed that crime? What possible purpose would he have to lie in his police records? It seems only reasonable to think he is covering for something else.

Well not true. Lying on a police report is a crime called falsifying records. And while they still do it and get away with it is not legal. Where they can lie legally is to suspects or someone they are investigating.

@@blightedgroundsthat is a fact. Do you know about The Reid Technique? It's how police are trained to interrogate people. And yes, lying is allowed. Also, officers trained in this technique will automatically see any person who is autistic, or who has PTSD, a mental illness, or an anxiety disorder, as being guilty as hell of what ever they're being accused of. Worse yet, some vulnerable adults may mistakenly believe that the police are being honest and that the police have their best interests at heart. It is legal to exploit the trusting nature of vulnerable people. But hey, they get to say they closed the case. Might even get a promotion. Never mind the innocent person behind bars, while the guilty party is free to commit more crimes. Case closed.

What you mean he resigned?! He not only disappeared on this cops watch but said cop also falsified records. So why isn’t he under investigation and or sitting in jail for at least lying on the documentation until they can gather more evidence against him?? What the heck is going on in our police departments the world over? Have they all lost their sense of duty and dignity?? Sheesh!!!! It’s everywhere man!!!!

Police should have mandatory GPS tracking on at all times as well as in-car and body-worn cameras.

AMEN . Yes cops should have mandatory tracking at all times. GPS in their body cams, and in their vehicles. REVELATION: USPS postal trucks all have GPS trackers, and those scanners that they carry with them on their routes are all "bugged." Bosses can pinpoint them to a radius of 3 feet. Led me to retire because it is intrusive and invasive of privacy. On the other hand, cops should be tracked because all too often they ARE up to no good. Just leave the carriers alone to do their jobs.

He knows what he did with that mans body. And they know that he knows what he did with that mans body. He also know how that man got dead. But he'll probably receive special treatment because he's a cop. And face zero consequences for his role in this mans death/disappearance.

Get real. He didn’t respect the cop’s authority and got completely unalived. You know the cops know all the best spots to hide a body. If his sidearm vanished like this man did do you think it would be ignored?

Gee we've never heard of anything like this happening before . If he hadn't done anything illegal he wouldn't have resigned . It's just that simple. Unless he had resigning on his schedule for that day for the past year and a half as far as I'm concerned that's evidence of guilt . Better keep an eye on him before he takes flight

Took him out for a twilight walk is my guess. Rural Canadian cops used to (some probably still do) take a person out to the middle of nowhere and beat them up, then leave them without their coat and shoes. A lot of people died of exposure in the winter, but it was a way for cops to get rid of problem people.
