Thanks for making the video, I have one of these machines and I like it, I find it user-friendly and easily customizable and modifiable, I haven't touched a motor to my machine yet but that may be something I will do in the future so I have the option, I made a couple of videos showing what I have done to my machine to customize or modify it, I'm always interested in seeing what other people are doing to & with their machines thanks again 👍🏻🙂

Thanks for the shout out on my servo motor gear kit I have on Ebay. I would like everyone to realize that since I am not an ebay "store", ebay doesn't let me keep the same listing number once I have sold all items and I need to re-list. I produce between 3 to 6 kits a week, so the listing number is always changing. When in doubt, just search for "Leather Sewing Machine Servo Gear Kit" If it is sold out, I will have more in a few days.

your videos are very informative but you should really demonstrate how the upgrades you put on that machine work , im really intrested in seeing how your lubrication , polishing , custom feet and motor upgrades affected the machine .

I also added a sewing machine motor, but it was a failure. So I decided to add a pulley to slow it down by a factor of 5.

That's the way to go!!

@@MainelyAcresFarmBrooks Thanks for the reply, it's running fine now with a 70w motor.

I thought I saw someone had added a direct drive -- a little rubber wheel mounted directly on a motor shaft, and a clamp to hold this little wheel engaged to the sewing machine's wheel ?

Here is an idea to do with that machine (if I had one)...drill a small hole in the spindle on which the bobbin carrier rides...run a thread up from the bottom of the sewing arm through it (maybe some wire thread guides leading to it) and leave out the bobbin all together (but leave in the carrier) and never wind one again. That's how comercial machines work.
@JohnHansknecht Жыл бұрын
Not possible. A lock stitch requires the top thread to be pulled and pass completely around the bobbin. The machine you are referring to does not perform a lock stitch.

Did you build the electrical box ,guard and plastic mounts for the motor or did it come with the motor?
@MainelyAcresFarmBrooks Жыл бұрын
That all came with the motor

The Vervo motors on ebay are confusing some show anticlockwise direction of turn and other make no indication of said rotation. Makes me nervous about ordering one.

Hey Harrison; awesome videos! Thanks for all the help. I have one recurring issue with my patch sewer, though - upper and lower work just fine when I have the bobbin cover open. When I close the cover over the sewing arm, that is when I see breakage. The bobbin carriage is tight in there - not sure if that might be part of the problem. Doesn't seem to matter whether I use the thin nylon stuff they ship with the machine, or thicker stuff. I aligned the cams, rod and bobbin carriage as per your other videos, then made sure that the needle is just bottoming out against my finger at the bottom of the stroke. If I hold a little tension on the threads, with the cover open, I can crank away and get a successful pickup and stitch every time. If I close the lid, I get 3 stitches, and a busted top thread. Any thoughts there?

How 'bout a link to that extended shaft? Did you say "Smoker Industries"?

Hi, I was able to get the Chinese sewing machine with the hand crank wheel already having a groove. Where can I buy the belt? Thank you!!
@MainelyAcresFarmBrooks Жыл бұрын
You can measure your set up and see what you can find at a auto parts store. I used a old belt from a broken printer.

Is the extended shaft and 11" pulley option currently available? Any links?

I have difficulty managing the larger piece I am sewing with one hand, and turning the wheel with the other. That's why I need to add a motor and foot pedal.

Is there an option to use a servo motor with a foot pedal to control speed? Seems like the best combination.
@indigoglass66383 жыл бұрын
Yes. My consew servo motor actually came with the bar & attachment meant for an industrial foot pedal. I simply added a block of wood to the other end of the bar and voila a foot pedal was born.
