I have to agree with the fact they are an excellent bang for the buck. My friend rides one and I have ridden it many times. It's a good solid bike. The fit and finish, especially the paint, is top shelf. It's got plenty of power for passing, great stock seat, has ABS brakes, excellent wind protection, and has very comfortable ergos. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one if I was budget minded. You would not be disappointed.

Nice to see the trunk opens without having to have the passenger get off first. top opening bags are my preference as well. Side opening bags if they are not latched can really hook you up with an exciting ride. That price point for all of that motorcycle is pretty amazing. I had a friend drop $50K for a 2018 Harley Davidson CVO. I could buy this brand new and have enough cash left over for more than 300K miles worth of riding experience where as he would just have the bike. that makes a monster difference in values to me.
@AnthonysWestTexasRides6 жыл бұрын
I also saw a video where a guy made a few mods so that the trunk can come off in about 5 mins and you have the "Vaquero Look" when you want the bagger look when riding solo i if you want and when taking a trip or 2-up you can throw the trunk back on and be ready to roll!

Nice bike, I'm going to have to test ride one. I currently own a 2007 Yamaha Royal star tour deluxe another great bike. I've been riding 26 years and before the Yammy I owned and rode nothing but Harleys. Then I came to my sense and stopped being ripped off by Harley. So I'm open to giving this one a test ride since my next bike I'm going to step up to a dresser like this for when I retire in 4 years or less. I plan to do a bunch of long-distance trips that the Royal Star TD could do, but a dresser has more luggage space and comfort.

Narrowed it down to a Indian or Harley bagger, about to retire, my M109 is great, however it's not a bagger, and I'm planning to retire in a few years and do some riding so I'll need some luggage space, sound system, fairing, GPS, and all the other amenities I will need for the highway.

@kellymc2394 жыл бұрын
No ECU flash needed, imho. Wife bought me a new 2018, two weeks ago (love you, Hon). Even though I'm keeping rpms under 2,500 due to break-in period, this thing has a ton of torque. No further power is needed. Loaded up with a grocery run, & me & wifey had no problem with power. Plenty of grunt below 2,500rpms. If you're still wondering whether to buy, my recommendation....pull the trigger on this bike. Great power, lots of storage, great price according to my wife, and while I explored the wiring, I found four open 12v power taps for extra lights, etc. Don't hesitate...go buy it, and keep 12+ grand in your pocket vs a Goldwing. No regrets here. Love this bike! :-)

My owner's manual says 32° of lean angle, but when I turn corners, it seems the bike has more capability than that. Anyways, the only part I've ever dragged so far is the tip of the kickstand. And that was on a left hand exit at 65mph where I entered too fast without seeing that the turn became sharper. I dragged the point of the kickstand, but I was WAY over on the lean angle. This bike has good clearance, imo.

At least it have 6th gears. Other vulcans only have 5, which sucks because u can't stay in the interstate for long. The engine will stress to much
@baltsosser6 жыл бұрын
With that size motor why would it stress the motor? I ran 70-80 out to Sturgis, SD from North Carolina on a 30 year old Honda twice. never had an issue with that 500CC motor and this brings a ton more to the party.
@takingoutthetrash15126 жыл бұрын
i have a 09 kawasaki vulcan 900, and yes! 5th gear on this bike running at 70-80 mph is at its limit in gear ratio... another annoying thing also: my analog speedometer showing that im running 70-80 mph, cars (every car) still pass me on the interstate but when i try to go pass 80mph to keep up with traffic the engine vibration becomes unpleasant
@baltsosser6 жыл бұрын
I've ridden a ton of miles rolling all over the country, I never though something with more motor would have gearing that wouldn't support that extra motor. Mine was only 500cc and it was ready to go, easily topped out over 120 MPH so it liked the 70-80 MPH all day long with no effort. I'm glad this model changes that part of the equation. Hearing the guy describing this as being sold in the $13K range is pretty exciting. That is a lot of motorcycle for not a lot of money.
@takingoutthetrash15126 жыл бұрын
I did allot of research and the reason why motorcycles with a big decent size engine like my vulcan 900 cant run good at highway speed is because the rear pulley or sprocket is too big and the front too small. this configuration is crucial to the gear ratio and speed... funny, but it is exactly the same concept on bicycles; like if you ride a bicycles and you set the chain to move to the biggest rear sprocket, it is a whole lot easier to peddle and the bike pick up faster, but you top out on that gear fast
@baltsosser6 жыл бұрын
Since I am not brand loyal when I was looking for my next bike I looked at Kawasaki, I was more focused on the Kawasaki Nomad though since I enjoy travelling a good bit. I did look at the Vulcan since it had a great price point, but I really wanted saddlebags and at least 200 miles range on a stock tank. I was just looking at the 900 trike kits tonight with a friend of mine. Really nice looking kits.

@Andrew. Obviously, you've never owned a full touring bike. Otherwise, you'd know by now that everything is well sealed, and assembled as marine-grade, to be weather resistant. Just like any other bike....don't dunk it in a swimming pool, but being caught in the rain is not a problem. You'd already know this....if you actually owned a bike. Wait, the bike you do own IS a bike, as in Schwinn. Now, stop talking. Go get your M permit, and a Honda Rebel 250. THEN, maybe you can join a discussion with the men who own motorcycles. Den E V There must be some solution. I dislike these kind of bikes which have shape of harley davidson model with liquid cooled engine, especially disguising their cylinders like air cooled one. excuse me for my poor english.
@corneilcorneil6 жыл бұрын
kinooohasi, and a Harley looks like a Indian, and a Goldwing, the V twin is a German design and invention (Daimler). What is wrong with adding some cooling fins if possible? The heat have to go somewhere and some extra fins help. You can ask the HD owners in warm country's how they struggle with air cooled engine's.
@kinooohasi6 жыл бұрын
Den E V I just wrote my impression of this Vulcan, and I meant that this is out of my preference. Peoples living in warm countries have their own preferences too, and I will respect their preferences. If my impression offended you, I'm sorry. In addition to my impression, Goldwing have Honda's original design, Star Venture have Yamaha's original design, but Kawasaki's Vulcan1700 is fake some touring models of HarleyDavidson/Indian, merely added liquid cooling system. My opinion is that Kawasaki should have sublimated the design of Vulcan S (EN650) for this 1700cc model.
@corneilcorneil6 жыл бұрын
kinooohasi, when you do a line up, the 650 S is no Vulcan at all. Every machine have limits, also a touring bike. Same for cars ... Goldwing looks like a Cavalcade and Voyager as wel. How cqn you desing a touring bike with bags and wind protection in a different way? You need a engine, tank, seat, wheels, a airfilter, footpegs, bars, mirrors, ... ofcouse that it gone have the same setup. How about Triumph, Norton, Bsa, .... or all the scooters? I dont understand why do people mostly use HD as the standard? They invented nothing. The V twin is a Daimler invention from 1890's, the rest they cope from Indian. The most important thing for me, is that Kawa use good technology and materials.
