Mainline Monsters of Steam in 2021.

Mainline Steam tours at the start of 2021 were curtailed heavily again due to the 3rd Covid -19 lockdown that saw me first start to film tours properly in May . Most locations are on the West Coast Mainline in and around Cumbria over the 1 in 75 climb to Shap summit and also the famous Settle and Carlisle line .Locos seen are 46115 Scots Guardsman on Dalesman duties, 60103 Flying Scotsman,60163 Tornado standing in for 6201 on the Northern Belle tours after Lizzie was withdrawn ,34067 Tangmere making her return on loaded test runs,35018 British India Line on Dalesman tours and Cumbrian Mountain Express runs , 6201 Princess Elizabeth on the Northern Belle ,45627 Sierra Leone ( Galatea in disguise ) hauling thirteen coaches over the S&C and for the first time in preservation 34046 Braunton would be seen on Shap and the S&C . Decided to make this a shortish video even though I did still manage to capture a lot of footage in 2021.A big thank you must go to my partner in crime Nige757 for putting up with me LOL

On behalf of all of us armchair enthusiasts, thank you Steve for all the pleasure that your brilliant videos have brought us again this year. My favourite is unquestionably the amazing footage of Scotsman with the incredible low angle of light to the rear of the train, Pen-y-ghent in the background and patches of mist in the fields. One of the finest pieces of film of any steam locomotive that I’ve ever seen. Exceptional even by your standards. Here’s to you and yours and best wishes for the year ahead.

Some of these trains have a Diesel loco on their tail. Is the Diesel actually assisting - or is it there 'just-in-case'?

Thanks Michael, most of the videos with the diesel see little or no assistance from the rear but sadly sometimes the diesel was helping ☹️
