We had the “off limits room” too growing up. The living room and dining room were always perfectly vacuumed and we were only allowed in the dining room on Thanksgiving Day and the Living Room on Christmas Day.

I have a friend who's parents didn't believe in medicine whatsoever. They were both chiropractors and had an in-house acupuncture table to "fix" anything. I never thought much of it, but he now has incredibly high blood pressure and won't go to a doctor. I've come close to crossing boundaries trying to get through to him just how dangerous a game he's playing.

A friend's mother had a rule that shoes had to be worn at all times in their house. This meant right up to bedtime. You could take your shoes off to bathe and go to bed.
