actually, the LG T90 will support separating the features mentioned in 21:45, but they only do this on specific hardware (maybe even just LG devices). I normally use the headphones with my LG S20 FE which does NOT allow separating the features, but I also have an LG G8X (the "dual screen" phone) as a backup device and tested it there (because that device also has other audio-centric features such as QUAD DAC, which don't matter for bluetooth lol), and in the G8X, the LG Tone app has 2 buttons to enable on the dolby section. Now if this is due to being an LG phone or because of specific functionality included on its OS that may also be available on non-LG phones, I don't know... What I do know is that I was mad that even on the G8X I don't get support for ANY aptX, since unfortunately, the T90 ONLY supports aptX adaptive or Qualcomm Sound... both features being SUPER niche even on the most recent devices. Even my S20 FE which is a Qualcomm version S20 FE doesn't have Qualcomm Sound, with a chip around 3y on the market...

Hello, I have a question. Thanks for the detailed review. I'm considering buying the LG T 90; I have 3rd generation AirPods, and I can get 5.1 surround sound on Apple TV. When I turn my head, I can also hear the rear speakers. Does LG have multi-channel audio support? Does it not only expand stereo sound but also deliver a multi-channel movie experience? Can I hear the rear sounds when I turn my head? There's no information about this on the internet.
@AndysTechTone11 ай бұрын
LG supports Dolby Atmos and head tracking which is similar to what Spatial Audio can do on AirPods. If the source contains the same audio and channel information it should work the same on the LG too

Do any of them have a Bluetooth triangulation feature, that lets you fix the audio position to the base station or transmitting device? I get the impression that if I use them for watching TV I won't be able to lie down on a couch without the orientation changing. The only option for this seems to be JVC's expensive setup.
@AndysTechTone2 жыл бұрын
The earbuds will reset the orientation after a couple of seconds every time you move or change your position. You can setup the Airpods Pro to follow your iPhone instead of your head but I don’t think it will work with a TV

@@AndysTechTone I just looked at a few pages about spatial audio on Apple TV and it looks like there isn't an anchor option, at least not yet. I'll have to buy one of these and see what happens when the viewing position isn't orthodox.

@@AndysTechTone Its really about hearing the music the way most people will listen to it. Earbuds followed by headphones are the most common way people will hear music. It does no good if music sounds great on high-end studio monitors but don't translate well to earbuds and other normal listening devices. It's just another way I can check how my mixes sound and enjoy the process. I look forward to listening to a lot of commercially released music through the 1More earbuds so I have a tonal baseline. Surprisingly, LG has the separate options for head tracking and spatial audio on Android, but not on iOS, that is quite strange.I prefer spatial audio without head tracking for music, and with head tracking - for videos. So, that is not an option for iPhone or iPad. 🤷♂

Head-tracking just seems to be balance control by head movement. It’s a disappointing gimmick. It seemed ridiculous when the earbud facing away from the central point is literally silenced as you noted. Extremely unnatural. This does not achieve spatial audio for me. It blatantly sounds like someone sliding the balance control left or right. Tilting the head down or up, adjusted the tone but did nothing to simulate what it’s really like to be immersed in sound and to move your head within it. Also to my ears, the music never sounds as good as it does in non-spatial aptX Adaptive. Overall, the value in hearing lossless or hi-res audio is much higher than that provided by so-called spatial audio. Qualcomm has bet on spatial audio for its 2023 gen chips but if it’s just like this then it’s nothing but a waste of time and development. More work should be focused on achieving wireless hi-res lossless.
@AndysTechTone Жыл бұрын
I somewhat agree with you but whether we like it or not Atmos & spatial audio seem to be the direction the audio industry is headed…
@mcnaugha Жыл бұрын
@@AndysTechTone headed in terms of hoping it’ll make profit but it could still fail long term. Apple’s had the Dolby Atmos versions option for 18+ months now and still not everyone in the industry is hopping onboard. I think that’s because it really is gimmicky. It’s not quite what it should be. Will be interesting to hear Qualcomm’s final product.
