My Harley Iron 883 uses the same plugs you have shown in the video 6R12. i just received two new plugs a couple days ago and I measured the gap, one plug gap was under .40 and the other was right on .40.

Thanks for your maintenance series my mother has a sportster and im gonna do the services on her bike from air filter, new battery, spark plugs and 3 hole fluid change. Just wondering where to buy a 2011 HD sportster service manual thanks.

Wouldn't that anti-seize lube get in the motor. What would happen if that stuff did?

I bought NGK Iridium DCPRE7IX (recommended) plugs for my 2015 Sportster Custom, these plugs are slightly shorter than stock but fit right. Is it ok to use them or not, please advice

Are Champion plugs good?

I use the Harley plugs but champion are fine.

Awesome as usual!! I've been thinking about doing this recently, since I got the coil relocation kit from DK. Got any recommendations on aftermarket spark plugs that are better than stock?

+RideWithGonk Thanks Gonk, I really don't. I just run the stock plugs tried others and to be honest couldn't tell a difference. You doing the tank lift also?

I got a 1.5" lift just in case. Was gonna try without a lift but if i can't get it then I have the lift as a backup. :)

+RideWithGonk if you need up using the lift grab some self fusing tape off Amazon much earlier to work with than black tape. Good luck with the relocation. :)

Why don't you use dialectic grease on the plugs? (where connected to cables)

You torqued that plug over 20lb. It’s not bad, but the manufacturers recommended 25-30% reduction in torque when antiseize or loctite is being used.

@freebehindbars8654 From my experience... Harley davidson torque specs are ALL over where they should be. Use an inch lbs torque wrench and do the math and set it at the minimum. If already at inch pounds. Set at 25 inch pounds on the minimum requiremented torque. Remember, they are in business to sell parts and new bikes

It's not "Bad News" if you get the wires mixed, as long as they reach from coil to spark plug it won't make a bit of difference.

Not true! I swapped my cables on the coil due to the way the mount held it and the bike would not start. Put new plugs in and still just turned over. Put the cables back to original and it started right up and runs like a top. So I found out first hand! 2016 Sportster 48 1200
