Disclaimer: I know this video is a bit shorter compared to the Gintoki Origin Story video i did. Reason being is because I only could provide what i had available to me as information. It makes sense that Gintoki's past has more context since he is the protagonist of the series but I just wanted to bring this to everyone's attention before i get "why is this so short?" comments lol. It's natural that it's short. But Takasugi is my favorite character in the series. Utsuro/Shoyo is amazing too, so it's a tough choice, but Takasugi has a tangible depth. I can picture real people being like him. I'm glad your video did him justice!

Takasugi is my favorite anime antagonist of all time. It's insane how Gorilla-sensei can make his characters so human in this bizarre samurai sci-fi setting. I 100% believe that the best thing about Gintama is the character writing

Agreed. The characters in Gintama is what makes the show so memorable and lovable. It's funny, how these stupid characters have such interesting and complex backstories that really make you feel for them :')

Takasugi is a brilliantly written best friend/rival turned enemy trope. What transpires even from his younger days is that Takasugi is deeply unsatisfied with how the world works and why he should abide by the rules imposed by his status. He is also incapable of accepting the way the world works unlike Gintoki who doesn't seek neither to change the world nor to avenge Shouyou. And he is ultimately a fragile soul that was shattered and couldn't put his pieces back together.

Yup, exactly. If anything i believe it was stated that Gintoki just seeks to simply live while Katsura and Takasugi are looking for change, albeit through different means.

I used to hate Takasugi, but the later character development, his backstory and of course because he always came home in gintama gacha hell, has turned him into one of my favorites. After Sougo, Kamui and Gintoki that is. But aside from personal biases, he's got the best character development in my eyes. Thank you for making this video!

Rohit Thongram Takasugi has a burning hatred towards Gintoki from what happened in the past but like I said, Gintoki and Takasugi both know that that the hatred stems from his weak self. You are right with your comment but I said more or less the same thing in my video haha.

I love the dynamic between Takasugi and Utsuro. Both hate the world but the difference is that Utsuro wants to destroy what created him and wants to kill himself, on the other hand Takasugi wants to destroy because of Utsuro(Shoyou's) creation(death)
