@@gemigisteve5947 typical dumb fan...doesn't realize characters people like aka sasuke hiei itachi vegeta ichigo and other villians would be far less popular appealing as characters without their plot over done powers which aren't realistic......on their own their pretty bad characters..this is why battle shounen anime gets a bad wrap and why it's harder to write engaging non powerful characters that appeal to real sensibilities rules that other animes create even if they aren't meant to last or develop over time like shounen battle characters as you grow with them...their powers and new ones are what keeps people engaged

I know we joke about how bad of a dad Goku is, but all jokes aside, he isn't as bad as people say he is. He did spend a lot of time with Gohan before the start of Z, but it didn't last when Piccolo kills Goku. Also, the reason he was absent between the Cell and Buu Sagas was that he felt like his mere existence always put his family and the Earth in danger, which he wasn't wrong. Sure, there are moments where he has done a few questionable things as a father but I won't say it makes him an overall horrible dad.

Fun Fact : 22:47 When Buu originally caused havoc ...he absorbed one of the kai's...and some of the kai's have some form of God Ki so.... technically Majin Buu was doggin everyone with similar powers to Dragon Ball Super And without spoiling the manga... there's a scene to further prove this

But Z Kid Buu was stronger than Fat Buu, because Kid Buu basically took the God Ki but removed the kindness. Also, I say he lost Buff Kai powers because when Super Buu was getting Buff, they said his power was rising rapidly, but then they commented that it began to decrease before he turned into Kid Buu

Yeah... the old joke stands true. "Don't mess with Dragon Ball fans, we didn't watch the show." A lot of the current fan base only knows about DB through TFS, who started the Goku is a bad dad thing as a joke (though they later started to believe their own narrative). If you actually watch the anime or read the manga, Goku was a great dad who was there for his sons as much as he could be when he wasn't dead, and actually spent _more_ time with Gohan than Piccolo did before sacrificing himself against Cell.

@@Michaeljefferson9000 that being said, Goku also had a poor understanding of Gohan's personality and boundaries. Goku's greatest flaw IS how carefree and innocent he is. He makes some rash decisions, and it often results in other people around him dealing with the consequences. In that avenue, I understand the claims that Goku isn't a great dad. There is a large amount of bandwagoning on the claim though, and those people are the ones that only watched TFS. Piccolo isn't much better, but, Piccolo sacrifices himself for Gohan as well. He really did come to really care for Gohan like family, and that's honestly pretty damn cool. Add onto that the fact that Piccolo is one of the relatively cooler characters of the series, due to relying on tactics for a large part of the series, and you can see why people end up favoring him over Goku. Either way though, Piccolo is more of a Role Model for Gohan clearly. Which, makes sense. Piccolo trained him after all, and instilled in him his mindset. But Goku is still his dad.

Until the end of the Cell Saga DBZ was a good bit more tame, reasonable, and not as cracked. However by the time the Cell Saga ended it made DBZ insanely popular and made Toei a shit ton of money. So they went to Toriyama and basically went: "Okay, your series is more popular and profitable than it's ever been. You can do whatever the hell you want now, editor be damned." So then Toriyama took off his authorial & illustrative limiters, opened all eight gates, and that resulted in the unchecked madness that is Buu Saga.

But the trend of wanting more dbz content is why the people complain about dbs so much, the fans wanted more content than intended so the series plot got progressively worse to pump out more content with some exceptions

Honestly, GT did have good parts (Super Saiyan 4 being in the top 3) but the Kid Goku version was irritating. It's funny how people forget how terrifying Kirby is. Aside from him just vacuum-eating you, he can get power-ups from nearly anything in his environment, has canonically punched a planet so hard he nearly split it in half, and has beaten multiple gods.

I honestly enjoyed the hell out of the first arc of GT where Pan, Trunks and Goku were just traveling the galaxy searching for the dragon balls it reminded me of old school dragonball and the worlds and places they went to were all pretty interesting and cool. Here's the thing about the Buu Saga. When the previous Cell Saga was done Toriyama was all, "Whew, I am done writing Dragonball," and his editors were all ""No please! write some more, moneymoneymoney." and Toriyama responded "Come on, I wanted to end Dragonball with the Sayan saga, I just wrote the Cell saga as a favor to you." "moneymoneymoney moneymoneymoney" So Toriyama went, "Fine. One more saga, but I'm going to throw every crazy thing I can think of into it so no complaining!" And afterward he stepped away from Dragonball and didn't write anything related to it again. Until some moron in holywood decided to make Dragonball Evolution, which was so bad Toriyama decided to write a dragonball movie as a palate clenser.

Fat buu is the good that came from buff buu absorbing the grand Supreme kai, fat buu had the grand Supreme kai and the south kai in him, when he expelled evil buu, evil buu absorbed him and became super buu, when they took their friends out, of they had left fat buu in, it would have been back to super buu, taking fat buu out leaves only to original buu, aka kid buu

Piccolo did NOT raise Gohan - he trained him for literally less than a calender year after Goku died. Gohan never left Goku's side for the first five (four in the correct translation) years of his life until Goku sacrificed his life. Flew all the way across the galaxy the second he was healed from the Vegeta fight to save Gohan. Trained Gohan for 3 years and was a family man (welcome, Goten) until he sacrificed his life for Gohan AGAIN.

To explain the whole Fat Buu-Kid Buu bit, it is similar to the Piccolo-Kami situation. Fat Buu - the relatively good Buu - expelled his evil essence, which turned into Evil Buu. The latter ate the former, and took his power for his own, becoming Super Buu. However, while Kami turned into soul energy and reunited with Piccolo to become the Super Namek, Fat Buu retained his physical body, within Super Buu. In the end, they were two separate beings.

I mean Goku does multiple things that are bad parentally and is generally pretty selfish at times, he after beating cell up and right after his son enters the ring give the man who his son is about to fight a sensu bean, which literally everyone called him out for, and while I don't often blame him for being for not being there sometimes because he's normally dead, there are plenty of times in which he didn't know he had to fight and trained anyways, and even piccolo who trains normally is actually there for Gohan, Goku generally isn't a great father, and while chi chi is alot, her being possessive makes sense due to the fact that her husband keeps getting himself killed, and endangering her children.

In the original Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z series, Majin Buu WAS the final villain. That's how Akira Toriyama ended the manga, but Toei continued the series with Dragon Ball GT, which Toriyama had little to no part of beyond several character designs. Then of course, GT ended, and that was it for Dragon Ball. It was about 15 years until Toriyama and Toei released the Battle of Gods movie, and Ressurection "F" right after. And right after that we got Dragon Ball Super, and I think you know the rest.

People say Goku’s a bad father but Goku didn’t even get a chance to know what Gohan liked because HE WAS DEAD FOR FIVE YEARS, before Goku died all Gohan could barely formulate sentences properly. The only time Goku and Gohan could actually bond was after the fight against the saiyans, WHEN HiS BONES WERE SHATTERED which was only like a week, and when Goku and Gohan had to train for the androids which was only a year. Then Goku died from cell’s suicide bomb and stayed dead for seven years because he believed all of earths threats came because of him, so in hindsight Goku could’ve even form a bond with his own son because threats were always around the corner.

Akira Toriyama was ahead of his time. Today in cinema, you can have goofy villians, which we see Marvel & DC do in cinema. This was the early 90's, Akira was taking an artistic risk with Fat Buu & it worked , truly genius! Also i'm with the jokes, don't get me wrong, but Goku only threw Buu into that building by accident, he was straining using SSJ3, that power still is hard for him to use, even in Super. Also the girl has to understand, there's a lot of context missing, so of course things seem random, the context is missing lol. That being said, YES, DBZ is one of the best Anime's ever. Like ANY show, there are seasons that are weaker than the others. Dragon ball has existed since the mid 80's, just like any long time show, it has it's high and lows. This season was great to me but it had some major flaws, overall it's still a great time tho. And if she find this stuff random, wait til she actually reads comic books lol

A couple of things I have to bring up: Goku has not been a bad father to both Gohan and Goten. Goku has been there for Gohan for a good portion of his life, has saved Gohan's life more times than Piccolo did, and even died for Gohan more than Piccolo did. Goku was even a main reason Gohan beat Cell as he trained Gohan, helped motivate Gohan when he was giving up, and was there in spirit to help Gohan destroy Cell. Not to mention that he and Goten spent time together during the Buu arc and afterwards. Goku may not be the best father, but he isn't a bad father to either of his sons. Piccolo is not Gohan's dad. Goku is Gohan's dad. Piccolo may be a good father figure to Gohan, but he still didn't raise Gohan, and he's the one who forced Gohan to be a fighter when he didn't want to be one. People tend to ignore or forget that. Also, while it was stupid of Chichi to slap Super Buu, she did it because she was angry about what happened to her son Gohan, who she thought was killed by Buu. She was brave, yet stupid. Not to mention that Chichi does care about Goku, hence why she had 2 sons with him.
