That is one amazing MOC!!! Especially considering that it's fully functional, has a detailed interior, AND it's the size of a skateboard... Back in the late 90's I was building rockcrawlers from the Toys'R'Us Lego Technic kit with the motor and corded controller. They were small and didn't steer, but they articulated like crazy, had a stupid amount of power, and could go just about anywhere (using the worm gear and pinion set-up). But your truck took my 20+ year ideas and turned them into a massive monster that I could've only dreamed about, LOL! That is truly excellent work. 👍

Hi, shouldn't be too much of a problem. I guess most of the inital built of the gearbox with driving motors can be taken out (with some modification of the structure and the whole block with the steering engine could be taken out as well. Shouldn't be to much of a problem to make transfer steering to the roof if that is what you need. I f you only want it as a display, the the simplest thing is to leave the motors out. Other optimisation of the parts is up to you.

Awesome piece of machinery Majkl!! Thanks 🙏 for sharing this with me. There’s one thing however, I think the problem with the shockery way of movement is the lack of power?! But two thumbs up!! 👍👍
@MajklSpajkl6 жыл бұрын
It may be lack of power while driven with PF, but whe driven with buwizz - there should be no problem with 2 XL motors. I think main reason is twisting of the axles in the driveshaft and when at a big obstacle it moves over it only when there is enough energy in the twisted axles that it results in jumpy movement. I could see this efect when I stopped the truck when it couldn't get over bigger obstacles and when I picked it up, some wheels would instantly turn for additional half of rotation or more because the axles were twisted due to high torque. But I'll see if any are permanently twisted only when I'll tear it apart. Best regards.

This is one of the best lego creations Ive seen. What causes LEGO models to jag around like that? Is it the motors too weak or play in the gears?

With this one I think it is a long drivetrain and heavy model. To overcome an obstacle torque gathers in the long drivetrain and then sort of jumps over the obstacle when all elasticity of the drivetrain components runs out.

Thanks for the video (and a proper spirit level app 😉). How do the gears perform in mud? (or first through water and then through sand?) --> do they "slip" or do they grind away the plastic?
@MajklSpajkl6 жыл бұрын
You're welcome. To be honest, the only problem with gears were in the gearbox - 2nd gear starts rattling a bit when hitting an obstacle. Water was no problem for the gears and all the electric components were high enough in oder not to get wet. I didn't sunk it to a deep enough mud to reach the gears in portalaxles, so only the tires got muddy.

Yes I admit it, shaking is even more prominent in double speed video. The reason for that is that some footage is done with classic PF batteries which have some problems running XL motors under high load. Another reason for jerking is also that before a tire goes over a high obstacle, the axle driving it twists under torque and when the torque is high enough it goes over the obstacle with a shake. I would definetly recommend using Buwizz for power. Thank you for constructive critique. Best regards.

@MajklSpajkl6 жыл бұрын
It might sound strange but so do I. The problem is the weight of the whole truck and long drive shaft which offers some slack and when hitting an obstacle in must deform torsionaly first and when it reaches the necessary level to overcome that obstacle it kinda jumps over it. So yes I am not to proud of how it actually drives, plus it is really slow in 1st gear. Mybe greasing it would be a bit better but I am not to fond of that.
