I've got a Mercruiser 4.3L (Gen+) that I just pumped about 4 gallons out from the dipstick. First 2.5 gallons were just straight water and the rest is sludge. When I removed the spark plugs and turned the crankshaft over, I got sludge pouring from 5 of 6. Thanks for the video ... at least I've got an idea of what I'm getting into here!

Great videos, i learned a lot. i have a mercruiser 5.0 and it was overheating, now its frozen. when we pulled out the spark plugs, water came out. don't know how it got there. first indication was steam coming out from outdrive. we crank the motor till all the water came out, but later it just froze. might be a head gasket, still checking. we tried to un freeze motor with no luck. i put PB blaster, in spark plug holes, nothing. so now i guess we will have to do a head gasket. funny though, my oil is clean, no sludge.????? thank you.

Hi! Awesome videos. Managed to learn a lot from them. Quick question: Would there not have been any of that sludge in the sump? If there was how did you remove it? Quite jealous of your ability to be able to work outside like that. I live in England, only rains here... Thanks!!
