Watching the challenges that Victor deals with while running this tank reminds one just how challenging this hobby is. The bad and the ugly are part of the journey.

At what time point did you add your sterilizer? Also which would you recommend for an AF Oceanguard 435? I’ve read UV kills the good bacteria for the tank so I’m unsure, BUT I know I want my fish to stay healthy. Tank is currently 4mo old.
@WorldWideCorals Жыл бұрын
It's fine to add it to your tank now, we added it a little too late. Would've saved more fish if we added it earlier on. The bacteria will adjust accordingly and you shouldn't have to worry, especially if your tank is already cycled.

Love Versa pumps, super capable and QUIET! Unlike some other brands. That said, the tubing does need fairly frequent replacement.

Do yall vacuum the "sand/pepples"? If so, how? If not, any concerns over detritus building up?
@WorldWideCorals Жыл бұрын
Detritus does build up easily, we move the substrate around, clouding up the tank, and then we do a water change. Sucking out as much detritus as we can.

Haven’t seen my Miami in a long time. I have a big my Miami chalice in my tank. Definitely my favorite. Mine has orange color in it but I like it.

Sweeet!! Are chalices your favorite type of coral?
@terenceclark4108 Жыл бұрын
@@WorldWideCorals LPS is definitely my favorite with chalice and acans probably my top 2.

How was the UV setup wrong? The flow direction is irrelevant on a single input/output, what else could you have done wrong (other than not putting it on the return line).

I put a uv on my tank but it heated up the water too much.. water was a steady 82F which isn't horrible, but i couldn't get it down so i took it out..
@WorldWideCorals Жыл бұрын
Yeah unfortunately adding more equipment to the tank does heat it up some more. You can try adding a fan to the tank or more air circulation :) That usually does the job.

@WorldWideCorals Жыл бұрын
@@Botzz28 Hard to say honestly. Sometimes the person/place where you got the coral from plays a role as well. For example, if their tank parameters are very far apart or if the coral has been freshly fragged as well.
