The US immigration system is so complicated you would think it is meant to encourage illegal immigration through the southern boarder than coming in legally. Been there, experienced the 80% rejection rate.

A good number of layoffs took place during the holidays. They knew who would be affected by them. If the layoffs have no political motive (i.e. US not liking BRICS and/or India buying oil from Russia), then Canada could be open as an option. If Canada is not (since it is a US ally) then one could hazard a guess as to why.

After some years Canada will also stop welcoming immigrants- everything is a circle , it ends when it is supposed to.USA has had enough of immigrant flow and they no longer need that much flow , people who support Canada now will end up saying Canada is no longer a place after 3-5 years as it will get complicated and competitive too.Canadian PR is also getting difficult now.

I always tell students and professionals NOT TO COME to the US for work or study if they are from large countries such as India. Here an Indian expat called Saurabh has asked the Indian Ministry of External Affairs to issue a TRAVEL ADVISORY for Indians to not come to the US or to be sure to leave as there is no future in coming to America. Search for the article: US dreams: 7L Indians awaiting Green Cards; expats send SOS to MEA When people STUCK for more than a decade can't get Greencards, WHAT is the point of coming to the US, SERIOUSLY? When it comes to H1B visas they don't have a country of birth limit but for greencards they have a limit. Nothing but plain racism and exploitation. No use of coming to the US if from a large country. They say land of opportunity but it's a land of exploitation. America behaving like a banana republic!!!

There is a limit on green cards to ensure that a few countries (as of now, primarily India) do not get ALL the green cards. If you can't understand this basic point, there's no point ranting about it.
@amberheard2433
@amberheard2433 Жыл бұрын
@@SuhaibZafar There is no reason for it. If employment based visas can be given without country caps to Indians and Chinese, but the employment based immigration petitions for are based on country of birth, then that is called hypocrisy and it is in the interests of all who care about the basic idea of America as a land of opportunity for people regardless of where they are born to oppose this hypocrisy and exploitation to be as vocal about it as possible. As it is nothing but exploitation, and it diminishes America as a fair country! India and China are huge countries with which America is intimately involved in trade as well. This creates the impression that America doesn't stand by its principles and wants to exploit people at every opportunity. If not Greencard, then they should be given EAD if they have been waiting 5 years of GC. If America can't even do that then it is no better I am sorry to say than any country that has exploited people like slaves.

not enough tech workers? that’s a lie. I and many of my American computer science student friends lost jobs to Indian workers. H1B workers can’t leave the company and they will head down. @@x-men69-96 If foreign labor was so important and hard to find, you would not be seeing tens of thousands of layoffs now. The AI program - Chat GPT is coming out with more versions. 88@@cr9144 It is my understanding that the IT area comprised of 70% immigrant labor. Tens of thousands of layoffs took place prior to the holidays. Many were notified via EMail. Some found out when their badges no longer worked or their access denied. These companies are not concerned about these workers. They do not care about 'burning bridges". The only time I have seen this type of behavior is when the employer has (or feels that he has) another "viable option" ready and waiting to go. Coincidentally, Chat GPT and other AI tools have come online. Supposedly, the work of 10 programmers can be done by one person (or that is the claim). Either this is the case (worker replacement) or there is some political motivation. Of course, I do not know for sure - just going off the way the workers were dismissed.

H-1B Visa workers are taking American educated jobs. The H1B visa salary needs to be adjusted annually for cost of living which would push the minimum salary established in 1978 from $60,000 a year to $250,000 a year current date.

@Nancy Beltran it is obvious you don't know about it. H1 has to pay tax money that is the difference between legal and illegal immigrants. Uncle Sam takes straight away 35% of package just like any employed American. This people have to live in America, so they spend living cost here. Of course they won't be spending on yacht /RV that is basic common sense.

@@savvyn37 I don't think you understand that H1B is not a immigrant visa. It is a temporary work visa. Illegal immigrants also are wrong and needs to be removed but that's another problem that we have. I don't know about 35% because its different for all types of workers based on progressive tax. So not sure what is there to complain about saying that you guys pay taxes. Everyone who works in the USA legally pays taxes.

Yes Change needs to happen, the H1B visa is currently abused. We need to remove the lottery system and only fill the quota based on top USA school graduates and if they are mid tier colleges than they will need a PHD. Additionally, The limit of 6 years should be enforced, I have seen people on H1B who have been here for 10+ years and they do work that a American high school graduate can do it. They need to go back for 1 year and then apply again. This needs to be fixed.

I disagree with what you are saying, you need more international students now than ever. Your experience doesn't represent the reality and the reality is that people on H1B visas are far more qualified than 99.9% of American workers, especially in the tech industry. I am an international student and It's insane how big the skill gap is between the average American and the average international student, the mentality is so different, and we have to fight for our future. I'm not saying that there aren't amazing American students out there because there are, but the skill gap cannot be ignored. The USA would struggle much more to keep up with the rest of the world if you would impose these restrictions that you suggest thankfully you aren't in a position to make decisions and shouldn't be because I think you clearly lack a basic level of understanding of what you are talking about.
