Excellent observation indeed the reconnaissance units (mainly special forces) & Contingent of Military intelligence has been embedded with Congolese Army for last 2 years for those who follow military news more closely. In a professional army, absolutely no way a battalion, Brigade, Campany can be deployed without fully picture from RECCE units. It only unfortunate the GSU RECCE company has been misused for VIP protection,otherwise if left the way the British purposed it, the unfortunate Radom killings of GSU by Cattle bandits and rustlers would never happen.

It wasn't Kenya army alone. It was divided into 3 or 4 sectors and different countries were assigned different sectors. The situation is similar in DRC with different countries taking care of different sectors. KDF just stood out because Goma, being the largest town in the region is within its sector and it was about to fall to M23 just as KDF arrived.

While advancing to Afmadhow on 29th May 2012,KDF battalion under the command of Lt.Col.Jeff Nyagah they thwarted an Al-shabaab ambush which six militants were killed and 1 captured. KDF learnt from the capture that the militants were getting intelligence leaks and that majority of the fighters have retreated to defend Kismayo.

Indeed there's some degree of superiority on the Kenyan military side. Fact check :Kenyan General is the one leading the whole operation of flushing out M23. Meaning all other East African forces in DRC are under Kenyan command. Number two, the escapids Kenyan military has made in Somalia is giving them an edge over other forces. There is general confidence in Kenya by the international community. Number three, Kenya is the only country that has no common border with DRC among the troop contributing countries. As such it is viewed more as a neutral country in this operation. Number four and the most important, Kenya has mastered the aspect of "soft power" the same quality that gives a country like UK respect by its adversaries despite being not very powerful militarily like say Russia or China. We're talking about influence, being smart, being assertive without using brute force etc. Number five, Kenya is the most experienced in international peace keeping, peace building and peace enforcement including military observer missions. From 1980 when Kenya 🇰🇪 first participated in peace mission in Iraq- Iran war to Namibia, to East Timor to Somalia in which Kenya has always succeeded. God bless Kenya and our able military and their lovely families. We're together with them in prayers.
