I’m almost done paying off my credit cards and refuse to ever slave for car payments ever again! And now my next goal is to file divorce 😮‍💨 since there’s no assets attached minus my small retirement but I can’t have this drug addict ex with his name attached to mine! Wish me luck since we have a child together and I feel like he will try to “fight for his rights” 😓 I’ve always been financially responsible and want to continue to move forward in life and have been doing well off!

Money advice is subjective, what works for you may not work for someone else, but it's always better to plan. I'm quite lucky to have been exposed to personal finance at an early age, started job at 19, bought first home 28, got laid-off work 36 amid covid-outbreak, and at once I consulted an advisor to handle growing my finance. As of today, I'm only 25% short of my $1m goal after subsequent investments.

What makes you assume that jobs with good work life balance are low paying? I've actually found the opposite - the companies that understand the importance of work-life balance are usually also the companies that believe in fair compensation and rewarding high performance. It's the skinflint companies who want you to work more for less pay. My current job has the highest amount of flexibility and the best pay / best raise opportunities of any I've worked in. The tech industry is great for that.

In my 30s and had a fun realization when I paid my loans off last year. Have 75K in CC limit and had 10K in student loans. I have zero credit card debt and decided to pay off my student loans one month with my commission check for the month. Credit score dropped from 825-795 because I was no longer holding longer term debt and now had zero debt. Fun shocker as I thought I would be closer to 850 after paying off

I always see every single american crying about their education debt. If thats auch a big problem, than why you guys dont just try to close it in one shot by pouring your savings or just keep repaying more than EMI.
@mannya_realtor
@mannya_realtor 4 ай бұрын
@anoopsajwan3450, I'm paying more than the minimum to try to pay it off, but many Americans can't afford to do so. I've seen it. They can't even afford the payment and are forced to put it on deferment or forbearance, which accrues more interest. Imagine having a debt that you can't pay, which keeps getting bigger and bigger every month. It can be overwhelming, and I empathize with them, especially since some people were so young when they began college that they didn't fully understand what they were getting themselves into in terms of cost.

I’m 37 with two young kids. No debt but my mortgage, about $1mm in net worth (~75% is in retirement plans and home equity, 25% in liquid investments). I’m only posting this as a motivator for myself to stay the course and not give it all back which is totally possible and very tempting because it is very hard work (read: sacrifices) to maintain. Best advice I would have (not that you asked), is do WHATEVER you need to in order to get out of consumer debt and NOT live paycheck to paycheck. Whenever you get to that point - stay there and commit to never going back. Finally - avoid lifestyle creep, or lifestyle inflation he called it (#6 in the video), when your income rises. Don’t buy stupid cars you can’t afford. Maintain a buffer between your income and outflows and pay yourself the difference (savings) every month.

Really connected with your video! It's an important time to lock down those financial habits. A big game-changer for me was zeroing in on debt repayment-especially high-interest debt. Knocking those out not only frees up more cash for saving and investing but also significantly lowers stress. Plus, embracing a more minimalist lifestyle helped me prioritize spending on what truly matters, reducing impulse buys and beefing up my savings. It’s all about making smart choices now to enjoy more freedom later. Your video's a great reminder of that. Keep up the awesome work!

One note for milestone 7 (estate planning): I think the most important aspect of your estate plan if you have children or a dependent spouse is a life insurance policy. A term life policy worth 7-10x your yearly net income is a must-have, and rates will be affordable if you sign up for a plan in your 30s.

Depends on your starting age. Making 100-160k/year and putting 22.5k/year into your 401k starting at age 30 makes that a rough goal. To hit the 66k 401k max takes a lot of caveats, owning your own business, leveraging matches (to the extreme) and leveraging marital status. So yeah, saving 300-450k in a 10 year span is rough.

35, pretty far behind having 3x salary saved. 5 years ago I was making 60k, now I make close to 200k. This is a guideline. You need enough money to sustain yourself in retirement. I am a modest person that lives simply. All projections I have showing will have a comfortable retirement at my current savings rate. For those of you that feel nervous about being behind on retirement. Remember what the goal is, don't focus too much on whether or not you are hitting certain guideposts

I'd argue investing in your health during your 20s. There are days where I'm thankful that I was health conscious early on so that things like warming up for a workout or physical activity can be quick for me. Or understanding meal balance is 2nd nature to me. I can focus more on strength and sport goals instead of focusing on things like weight loss and baseline good health.

This is something I know I can work towards when I’m not sick in episodes of depression with a job that isn’t something I’m happy about. Night shift nurse. There is a Roth IRA I opened and only maxed once. A CD account too but this was me doing something for the first time. Some of the comments have me a little discouraged because of what they have done that I didn’t (yeah I’m comparing myself). I also need to remember my upbringing didn’t come with financial awareness so I get I need to start now.

Happy to see that im hitting some of these. 31, got the house last year, no debt besides the mortgage, have 55K in the retirement account and with my monthly contributions plus average annual returns of 8% i should hit near 210k by 40 which is exactly 3 times my annual income (doesnt include my pension). Hope i can push harder ive been starting to increase the average amount i put in by working OT and putting the money right into the account. Have the fully funded emergency fund, have a well formed budget and a financial plan with goals by certain years, hopefully if all goes well my wife and I will be cruising by the time we hit our mid 40s

What’s crazy to me about paying rent but not being able to buy a house is that my rents is 1400/month times 12 month times 30 years for a mortgage would be over $500,000. So I could afford the mortgage payment but not the down payment, yet. Obviously taxes, insurance and other costs but I already pay most of those bills renting anyway.

With my increased pay I made the following thing: 75% percent of the increase goes towards my savings and investments and the other 25% are for me to enjoy. This increases my savings, but I can enjoy some nicer things without guilt :)

Turning 35 this year, wife is 33, we only have 1x our salary saved for retirement right now but we just finished paying off all our debt last year. So if I max out my 401k for the next 5 years I should be able to hit that 3x number 🤞

Very similar situation. My wife and I are blessed to have very well paying jobs, Doctor and high level sales but it took a long time to get to where you are now. Proud to say we went from -100K in debt at the beginning of last year net to 300K currently invested in various markets with no long term debt. Prioritizing paying off loans was hard, but was the best decision we ever made. Cheers to you and hope you continue to find success in the future 🎉

Recently paid off student loans at the age of 26. Most of my money earned was paying off students loans. Bought a house and paying mortgage. Paid off my car. Investing 7% on 401k and company match. Working 2 jobs just to be able to cover mortgage and save some money on the side as well. Considering opening up CD

I indeed got into lifestyle inflation smh, got a new car after already having a new car that I was on top of paying off. Now I have to use more of my hard earned income just to pay it off (already spoke with the dealership to see if it was possible for them to pay it off and I get something cheaper), but that wasn't happening. But I'm grateful to God I have the ability to work hard and pay it down. Also adding as much as possible into my emergency fund and investment accounts. Thank you for these helpful suggestions!!

One major flaw is your 62,000 average income x3, you cant take a pre tax income and tax it by 3, after tax sure. Because as we all know you dont make and take home your full wages.

Single, childless 33 male, and I've got everything down except for Estate Planning. I should probably do this better and prevent my financially illiterate family members from squandering it away if I die or am unable to think for myself. The only thing I don't have is a house. RIP the So Cal House dream. A 200K down payment for a decent house is too much right now, and I can't afford the mortgage payments.

I'm 39, wife is 33. We have about 155k in retirement. I didn't even start till I was 30 and already have 65k in mine making average income. We are saving 15% and if the S&P500 averages what's its always averaged, we should have around 4M by the time we're both retired.

I just turned 40 a few days ago. No debt except the house which is about $140K, a years worth of expenses in the emergency fund, and $227K in retirement savings (investments) which are all Roth. I hope that’s sufficient for my age. Comments welcome.

29 and about 1.3x pretax and 1.5x post tax salary. I know it’s controversial, but I convert my post tax savings to pretax. Most o of my savings is post tax because I believe I’ll be making more money in the future and I think taxes in general will be higher.
