So how did the jade plant turn out? And how do you train one to stay upright?

Next time to use bonsai wires to shape the plant. And I think it's is about time to repot and separate them, give it some fresh soil too. I wish I could get my hands on the plant like this.

Just reversing the "back: of the plant toward light would have the branches go up and backwards

why did you leave one branch dangling down? Personally I didn't like the branch with the heart shape. I would have pruned that back as well.

I might have tried to stand some of these up. Did you cut with propagating the cutting in mind?

No I did not, I’ve got enough jades, my main focus was to bring back strong and healthy growth in this jade

Thank you for your video. I saw the result of the prunned jade plant. I just want to ask what happened to the cut branches?

The branches I cut off got given away and the branches that were pruned continued to grow new shoots and are as healthy as ever

My question is, although Jade plants grow and recover faster in the spring and summer after a pruning, if it’s an indoor jade plant will it still recover from a pruning just as equally, any time of the year?

This is helpful. Can I repot the jade after I prune or is that too disturbing to the pruned plant?

I've had umpteen thousand small jade plants and they always die on me. I try to not water at all, or keep it watered lots, moderate indirect sunlight. What am I doing wrong? I never knew they grew that big and had thick stalks like that.

Watering every two weeks is a safe bet. I have a small one under my grow light so it gets lots of light. They prefer direct sun light not indirect and preferably from a South or West facing window. I have mine in a clay terracotta pot too which succulents like with cactus/ citrus soil
@ExpeditionHomestead
@ExpeditionHomestead 6 жыл бұрын
Its possible that they were not getting enough sunlight. Get as much sunlight as possible while making sure there are no burn marks on the leaves from it. Watering is typically once every two weeks, just enough to soak the soil if you have a nice coarse well draining soil.

Mist the soil very lightly instead every couple days. Every month or so water. They can survive off the humidity in the air alone

I have a 25 year old Jade plant that is potted outside. Through the years I have pruned it to make the branches even and straight. It's a beautiful tree that blooms pink flowers every spring. It now has become too tall in front of our kitchen window. I decided to cut half of the top branches straight across to lower its height. But now those pruned branch top ends are brown and drying out. You can see inside the top of the branches; which looks kind of like inside of a mushroom. Have I murdered my Jade Plant?

@@ExpeditionHomestead how long does it take to bloom? I have one that's exactly same age 6 year old. But it not spread as yours mine is jus one trunk with side branches.

Nevertheless, it needed pruning, and repotting; soil mix do not seem adequate for efficient drainage, another pot would be good. Stop watering for some time, or keep it to a minimum.
