Perhaps to add to the effect, it would have been better to use the original lyrics. Instead of "hang your shining star upon the highest bough" the original was "until then we'll have to muddle through somehow". The original lyrics also included the lines "Have yourself a merry little Christmas/ It may be your last / Next year we may all be living in the past". In other words, the song is originally meant to be rather sad. Great cover!

Hey Chase, have you thought about maybe doing a major to minor Christmas album? I know... everyone puts out an Xmas album, but seriously... you've got something really different here and one thing that I happen to love is what I call "dark carols," the ones we're supposed to hear and sing on Christmas Eve when it's cold and there is an expectation in the air of something absolutely magnificent happening soon. Carol of the Bells, Three Kings, and the one you just sang capture that feel for me. I'd buy that album in a heartbeat....
