He made a video stating this. And I watched his video on if ultramarines can be black. The answer was "probably, it's really not mentioned much in the lore, but the gene seed would make them look more like Guilliman." Basically a "meh"

As I recall the gene seed of Sanguinius and Guilliman change the features of aspirants to be more like their primarch but it doesn't have any defects to the organ that messes with skin pigmentation. Also I am quite sure I remember Arch bringing up the point that there obviously would be people of all colors living on the worlds of Ultramar. The only thing he was pissed off about was that in his opinion the mutation of the aspirant into an Ultramarine should have made him look more like Rowboat Girlyman. Context matters, and when you're making videos based on Warhammer and calling yourself Warhammer, it would take an absolute beast of a lawyer to convince a judge or jury that they aren't connected. Now, if Shadversity had called himself Warhammer, and there were videos of him talking about literal war hammers, and/or he said that the war hammer was the best ancient weapon, etc., and he started doing Warhammer content, that would be a vastly different context, and Shadversity would likely win in any court cases that GW would bring against him. (though perhaps not to the point where a judge would order GW to pay for Shad's legal fee's, so Shad going up against them would be a pyrrhic victory at best) Still, fuck GW's legal department and everyone enabling them.

Something I do think is important to clarify about the content which was deleted. During the aftermath of the hacking incident, there has been A. a major(kill) decrease in growth supported by KZbin, which I remember seeing with other unrelated channels which got hacked B. he deleted all his gaming content from the channel (such as the mentioned Jedi Fallen Order series) and has moved some content over to Archcast The latter would be the cause behind his massive drop in views, as naturally a lot of gaming content means a lot of views, but there were other non gaming deleted too I'm only adding this as you provided direct comparison between yourself and him in covering these things, but you have done the same thing you accused him of and didn't actually reach out to ask him to clarify any of it

Got into WH few years back and watched some of Arch's video to get myself started. Some were very useful for me but Arch has a tendency to go on a rant mid-video about something he doesn't like. He was invited to do a total war Warhammer collab video with Grehunter and Invicta; a total war youtuber who's clueless about WH lore. It was quite uncomfortable, Arch was kind of a dick. ok so I remember watching the "black characters look wrong being space marines" video mentioned at 12:14. in summary from my memory the reasons he gives for why their wouldn't be specifically a black (can I say that?) ultramarine here was twofold, first as mentioned by @Majorkill, space marines look like their primarch (from memory arch even stated that this wasn't common), the main reason was the organ Melanochrome which changes the melanin in the skin of space marines depending on the situation. Arch even mentioned that their would be many ultramarines with African facial features but white skin from the Melanochrome. The main point of the video was to discuss how games workshop was adding in diverse characters for political reasons not for lore reasons. look I've watched allot of internet and youtube celebrities go from ant-woke to alt-right (I was around those anti alt-right communities with figures like kraut) and arch just isn't one of them. please please please don't confuse anti-woke shtposting and video titles with racism, I've seen far too much of the anti-woke community get thrown into the alt-right by very good hearted and well meaning accusations of racism (That sounds sarcastic but it's as honest as I can make it sound). A recent big reason his channel took a bad hit because roughly 8-9 months ago his channel was hacked and deleted and he had to rebuild the entire thing. All views built up over time, subscriber count all of it had to be remade an he hasn't quite bounced back from that. Having your channel hacked an deleted is a pretty dam hard hit no matter how big a youtuber is.

So I'm going to be real here. I had never heard of Arch until I heard people whining about and hating on him. Having had no history with him at all myself, I didn't really care. Eventually, a few of his videos did come up in my recommendations, and I watched them, because they were on topics I was interested in. And.... I saw nothing wrong with them at all. I think the video about the black ultramarine was something about natural skin colour not mattering that much for space marines, not because of their primarchs, but because of their geneseed making their skin more adaptable to whatever environment the planet they were currently on had. As for the "why'd he delete the videos then? What defense is there for that?", well - the answer is a very simple and very easy one. I'll direct you to Mister Metokur, aka InternetAristocrat, but most commonly known simply as "Jim". Jim has had a varied history, in 2014 he became popular for essentially spearheading (I won't say creating, because people had already been covering the topic of corruption in games journalism long before him - see Rageaholic's old videos for example) GamerGate. He would later leave GamerGate and maintain a career of essentially just trolling people on the internet. Jim's primary platform for a long time was KZbin. With the type of creators KZbin likes to censor for anyone who has what they consider to be "unsavory" content, Jim miraculously avoided KZbin censorship for a while. As KZbin closed their fist tighter on the platform over the years however, it was inevitable it would happen. Jim was hit with one strike for a video he uploaded by KZbin. As a result, the video was taken down. Not long after he was hit with another strike, this time however for a video that was from years back. It didn't take long for Jim to figure out what KZbin was doing, as long as he had any sort of content up, no matter how long it had been up, that KZbin disliked, they would have the chance to strike him down. Jim also quickly came to the conclusion that KZbin was definitely out to ruin him and permanently ban him from the platform (and, at that point, he only needed one more strike). The only way around it was to beat the system by playing KZbin's rules against them, and the only way to do that is by taking down any "unsavory" videos that KZbin might strike which, for Jim, meant deleting his entire catalogue on KZbin so they wouldn't have anything to strike him with, and afterwards on streamed carefully worded satire of which was called the "weather reports". Why Arch deleted his videos is very much in the same vein. As long as they're up, he will be giving KZbin ample opportunity to kick him off the platform - permanently. That aside, after the Warhammer copyright strike drama he knew KZbin now had their eye on him. He didn't delete them in some attempt to "save face" or to hide some notion that he was secretly a far right racist. He did it because as long as those videos remained up, KZbin would have ample opportunity to remove him from the website all together (hence why he also moved his personal commentary to a secondary channel). Arch has verified this multiple times surprised you didn't catch that despite your apparent "investigation", and he doesn't backtrack on what he's previously said or joked about. That especially, is that no one - not you, nor I - are moral arbiters who get to decide as fact what constitutes an "edgy joke" and "racial views" and where the line is placed between them. It's also a tad bit egotistic to set yourself as the bar for what should define edgy content. I don't recall any ceremony naming you 'Jack of Blades'. As for him "constantly bitching about GW" and being overly pessimistic... well, that's kind of like saying Star Wars fans have no reason to be pessimistic about the future of the IP. In your video you lambast Arch for never reaching out to people before doing videos on them (which, while he doesn't every time, he has done this multiple times in the past), but then you go on to make this video without reaching out to Arch. The guy literally runs a podcast and welcomes anyone of any political view onto it. He's not hard to reach, for fucks sake I was able to have an entire conversation with the guy from just a single email months ago, and I'm a nameless nobody. I find it all too funny people can do these "profiling" videos on others without ever talking to or meeting the person in any sort of depth whatsoever. Also, the people that lead the charge on the Arch hate, sigmarxism, are avowed communists, which is another group that Arch has made clear his disdain for. It's rare to spot, but there are times where he does actually show that he cares deeply for the warhammer community. It's part of why he said he didn't fight the trademark violation that forced him to remove "warhammer" from his name as he felt it would only damage the community. Even if he was mistaken he felt he was putting the good of the community before himself. Ultimately I don't think Arch really cares all that much what the community thinks of him and if memory serves he even actually liked the idea that he was some kind of boogeyman in the community.

KiriothTv made a video on the NDA and he explained that this NDA wasn't strict in general, but it was very strict when compared to other NDA's from this industry in particular. Basically, NDA's between youtubers and companies that sell miniatures are usually never this strict, which is part of the reason many people were upset. I don't know much about this kind of stuff personally so you should probably check out the video yourself. He also stated that Discourse Miniatures also made a good video on the topic, and I think this helps to add some perspective to the situation.

Tex is a great guy and one of the most welcoming people in any tabletop hobby ever who puts alot of sweat and blood into his battletech lore videos. And the people who have a hateboner for Arch brutalized him, wishing everything from Tex loosing his iconic voice completly to outright death on the poor guy (including threats to him and his beloved). Because he dared... to talk with Arch.. about how different Battletech and Warhammer are managed by the owning companies... Arch lost alot of videos because his channel got hacked around the same time alot of channels got hacked and all got the crypto currency stuff out all over it. He lost alot of videos going back years but most of them are there. I like Arch alot I think he does his lore really damn well, knows his stuff buts alot of research into things for double checking and I like how he has a bit of fun with things and pointing out the randomly odd things characters do depending on writers etc... I also do like how he mostly split the channel up I think it's good one is mostly on Warhammer stuff the other is on culture stuff (pop culture, gaming, culture war etc...) Sometimes they cross over. The hate Arch get is dumb mostly done by jealous people he has been doing this stuff for a long time. Also Lutein is great as well. Very different style as well, it's good to have a mix of things.

I think your channel is better for newcomers and just a peek into new topics. You cover a lot and your humor is USUALLY pretty welcome. Arch on the other hand is far more detailed, and usually more accurate (not a shot at you, just what I have noticed) lore wise. Theres many mistakes in this video. Sadly i dont have time now to go trough of the all, but for instance deleted videos were transferred on new main channel since hacking fucked "Arch" channels monetization to hell and back, limiting visibility etc. New channel now is for political topics, while old channel is for lore and gaming related content. I would not say his videos are clickbait per say, while there is some indication that way, his going with current information and then putting in his own predictions. Like with modder getting demonetized or deleted, not being able to put his patrion link on the mod kinda does count as forcing to demonetize since no one actually sees the patrion link. Havent seen his mods so cant say how blatant that was, but he should be allowed to have the link there regardless. For the comments, jokes and takes... He has explained his thinking and i dont find anything racist or sexists in his content, even less when everything should be allowed to be joked and debatable, regardless how much pussy fit someone throws about it. An Astartes' appearance leans toward the Primarch whose geneseed they are implanted with. The closer to the Primarch the Aspirant appears to be, the more like the primarch they will look. In the hours heresy marines of the white scars and salamanders were recorded to change their skin pigmentation to match closer to their primarch even most in the case of the salamanders were originally white skinned. To the white scars this happened as well on a smaller scale where Terran marines that were not originally some form of Asian slowly began to change to the point that they were indistinguishable from any marine from Chagoras. This type of thing is recorded in all the legions in one form or another. So if you did have a black ultramarine should they then not resemble Guilliman?

This is largely makes the Space Marine look like the Primarch knocked up the marine's mother and so looked like the son of that Primarch. Keep in mind GW/WH40K tends to depict their universe, in canon, has having all white people. Only recently has official artwork been more inclusive/diverse. So anything written before that point should be taken with a grain of salt as to the ethnicity of the IoM.

From my experience watching Arch, I won't deny some of the opinions stated in the video, just extrapolate on them. In the case of humour, and even friendship, his jokes are rather mean spirited. This is often seen with Kyle when he outright insults him and plays it in a joking way. I do know that earlier in the year, after the hack, he made some executive decisions. This is explained further on his alternate channel, ArchCast and in his Patreon/SubscribeStar. He was in talks with KZbin after the hack, and (in his own words) "saw which way the wind was blowing" and decided to chill and bring things back under closer regulation. Cancellation is actually the joke word these days during live discussions on there. He also chose to make his main channel for Warhammer Lore and Discussion only, moving most of his gaming content to ArchCast, thus he deplatformed his playthroughs which tragically were rather amusing, and other gaming interests and TTRPGs from his main channel. Is Arch an asshole? He can be, absolutely. But as a blunt and direct asshole, I appreciate his unique insight from time to time no matter how controversial.

I watch both of you regularly, don't have many issues with the problems he puts forth about GW and their practices, and wish you guys would just make out already and move on. I aint forgetting that shill video about Lost Crusade majorkill did (one of the few majorkills i watched, meaning it probably holds more weight to me than to proper majorkill fands).. "sponsored but unbiased" he said, when after looking, i just found that the core of the game is really "generic mobile "strategy" game with a warhammer coat of paint where paying player will treat the F2Ps as living ressource fridges while constantly nuking said player's army into oblivion" :p

@@lordfarquad8913 hard to become a fan in the first place though if one of the first things you see about that youtuber is said content creator flat out lying to the audience about giving his own, honest opinion though. Because if there is the obvious one, what other, not as obvious one could be on there where cash was waved at him until he said what someone else wanted him to say? And me not being a fan in this context is both a pro and a con: means i do not know all his content, but also, that im not biased. Yeah "unbiased opinion" and "I use this myself" for sponsored segments/videos are just a joke. Never buy anything a sponsor advertises on KZbin it's all shit. Worst offenders are raycon headphones (a literal scam) and mobile games.
