For the guys and gal that might be curious, the nutrient bars and paste of the space marines serves a double purpose, not only are they easy to eat and play into the super soldier fantasy, but space marines require a larger variety of minerals like heavy metals and ceramics, which obviously aren’t present in large enough quantities in normal food. I love how much content we can get out of the 40k universe by just asking simple questions, and I’m glad you’re there to make these videos to slate the community’s bloodlust for random trivia. A little curiosity on chaos food: in one of the gaunt's ghost books they explain how the forces of chaos (mostly formed of mortal in this case) spread on conquered world a type of cereal, if i recall right, that grows extremely quickly and in large crops, much more than any imperial coltivation. This allow chaos to never have food supplies issues for his armies but absolutely fucks up the ecosystem of the planet. After just a generation the terrain is so deprived that you can't grow shit anymore... not that they care. This doesn't apply to all chaos forces but is a cool example

Now, in the real world, the next level is the Battalion, with a few Companies, a Lieutenant-Colonel, and whatever else they need, but 40K just skips this and goes straight to the Regiment. Since space marines need their food to be so nutrient dense so that they aren't wasting more energy eating it than they get from it (in addition to all the metal and rocks they need added to it to support their freaky skeletons), I believe some chapters give up on "normal" food entirely outside of diplomatic/cultural situations.

@morzorkatvfm
@morzorkatvfm Жыл бұрын
Kroot can cook and they also preserve meat like we do. From my understanding they like cooked meat the same as you or I might and for the same reasons. When Kroot want to take DNA they eat it raw, though the meat they want for DNA tends to come from species with specific exceptional traits. That's why they eat a lot of humans because they can eat them for general nourishment without evolving, due to humans being extremely unexceptional in any one field. I believe it's also one of the reasons why Kroot eat, or rather must eat, their own Kind, to retain their shape as Kroot. I think it's either a general misconception or an oversight by the writers that Kroot hyper evolve after one meal, because if that were true the stereotypical Kroot would not exist as they'd all be weird and wacky shapes and sizes by now. Furthermore, Kroot evolution would only take the DNA that improves themselves in one way or another for a specific situation, like with their dead-end evolutions adapting to be animals, so eating humans won't make them weaker as their core DNA is superior in basically every way. Edit: now that I'm thinking of it, if Kroot want to eat but don't want to evolve, cooking would break down the DNA into an unusable form, thereby avoiding any accidental evolutions. This is a theory but it makes perfect sense.

About the AdMech, always wondered something. Asmuch as they replace their organs for machinery, they still maintain semblance of skin, flesh, brain matter, and even bones. How do they maintain it, considering they remove their digestive system? And i am not good at biology, but isn't necessary a blood stream to spread nutrients and regenerate tissue? Is possible they use skin grafts, or specific injections for the fleshy parts. Is possible too they have a replacement for the heart to pump blood (or similar) to the living bits, and something akin to kidneys to cleanse the fluids. Put up some rules within, cultures, while letting some room for story evolution (the balance between what is already there and immovable and what can change can be hard to figure out, but I believe that taking the needed time to do it correctly is necessary), and there you have a chance of doing something good. The least you have to rely on things such as plot armor to have the story directed were you want, the better it is (and I think everyone knows here how good is 40K as a counterexample of it).

Tau aren’t vegan, I mean I can see how you would come to that conclusion because one of the only times we see Tau eat is when shadowsun and her team eat some green instant noddles in the field. But Farsight in empire of lies kills and eats a snowlinx, pretty much Tau version of mountain lion. He also eats bugs and roaches from under a rock. Although he does this in order to survive on mt kanji he still eats them

I wonder if the Custodes have some sort of immolation device to burn them away if they know they will be consumed by the Nids?
@Will_Parker
@Will_Parker Жыл бұрын
Probably more like a mini nuke. If a custodes of all things dies you know it's bad enough that they'd want everyone in the vicinity to die as well. Probably the power cell for their armor. An easy Lord explanation why we don't know about it is that propaganda states a custodes never loses so of course they won't say they have a contingency plan.

@navilluscire2567
@navilluscire2567 Жыл бұрын
It basically means they can gain more power...somehow, and apparently means more status for a deamon based on how many souls they've consumed or even just corrupted. Why are souls so valuable? I dunno, possibly because souls are somehow more stable forms of warp stuff than whatever daemons are made of and so with enough souls eaten or absorbed a daemon could theoretically take in more warp power without risking destroying themselves...atleast not as much of a risk if they tried to do it without such souls to more or less buffer them. But it's never really stated exactly why they are so valued, these abstract things called souls, only theories or speculation like mine above.

Just a small correction, tyranids can eat things other than biomass, like when they consume a planet they don't just eat the plants and animals, they also take all the liquid water and an appreciable percent of the planet's crust, since certain tyranid biomorphs need specific rare minerals to be constructed. They could theoretically consume necrons, but the necrodermis would just phase back to a different tomb complex or break them apart from the inside out.

Hey Majorkill, love your videos. What does each faction do to counter titans? Some have their own titans such as the Orks and Eldar, but others don't. Thinking of Dark Eldar, Necrons and until recently, the Tau.

As pointed, the Tau have dedicated gun platforms for titan-killing duty, and if that fails they use large bombers. Dark Eldar tactics mean they counter titans simply buy not fighting them in the first place, and if one pops up they would likely just retreat and hit somewhere more vulnerable. But if they need to fight, some of their weapons can definitely be a threat to titans. As for Necrons, they have more than enough firepower to deal with titans without having to field something the same size: doomsday arks are just the tip of the iceberg of what they can throw at a titan (especially if you go into more obscure lore where the Aeonic Orb becomes a thing... That thing just showing up is enough to make sure that either the necrons win or the planet ceases to exist, and can vaporize titans with no issue by blasting them with the full power of a goddamn star)

As much as GW loves to kick the eldar everytime they want someone to be seen as powerful or threatening, like killing an Avatar or destroying a craft world, the reality is that craft words are not to be messed around with, so being an eldar in a craft world is probably the best choice for being in 40k. One of the core Tau worlds wouldn't be bad either. You also get big tiddy eldar/tau girlfriends, so that's another great bonus.

A bit of an amendment to the nids vs nurgle story line. It was not that the hive ship started to die. It was that it got infected by nurgles disease (a special one made specifically for the nids) and it was corrupting the hive ship, turning it into a follower of nurgle. So the nids senced the disconnect and decided to nuke it to prevent any further corriptopn to the nids.

Its also possible that some(if not all) of the food of the imperium/DA Humanity have been bred selectively or evolved via natural selection over the millennia meaning their could be more nutritious and other possible side effects(e.g giving more energy than normal like in the case of caffeine)be it good and bad. It would also vary world to world.

The Tau one makes no sense though. They constantly refer to hunting don't they? Their culture, especially that of the fire caste's ancestors, revolved almost entirely around hunting out on the plains/savannahs. Their military doctrine is mostly based on ranged ambushes and herding/luring enemies into killzones, like a hunter would with their prey. I imagine maybe their society moved away from that and more towards agriculture, but hunting seems like an integral part of how their society evolved. Plus they have forward facing eyes like us, so they would more likely be predators or at least omnivores like us naturally.

On Kin food, I have my own theories. The lore established their rugged survivalist, waste no resource, hoarder approach to things, but also show that they have their side of acting on impulses or more on the emotional side, their grudges and how they devote any resources to settling them. My idea or headcannon is that they have mass produced rations, similar to MRE's that are given to any Kin according to their dietary needs, since I would imagine a dwarf working of fixing the hydraulics of a small flying vessel wouldn't need as much as a Cthonian miner that is constantly hauling rocks *AND STONE* . Sorry, lost my composure, however, when a victory, festivity or something worth celebrating occurs they make feasts, using resources and food items they have traded with the SPECIFIC goal of being used in such events, Eldari wines and fruits, stock of grox meats or other products from the Imperium, T'au noodles or spices they may produce, etc.
