*UPDATE 10/08/2022*: - Now, bolt action rifles have all been buffed (bar the De Lisle Carbine, which came out after this video was released, hence is not in it) in terms of damage to mirror the Stalingrad campaign's bolt action rifle damage. As all rifles have increased their damage in proportion, some may say this doesn't change the order listed in this video. But arguably what it does do is make some bolt actions better than semi automatics in some people's eyes (even though they were buffed in terms of fire rate) and some of the bolt actions that suffered with damage but were good in all other areas may overtake other bolt actions. - Rifles have also all had their recoil increased, but since SMGs and assault rifles have as well, it shouldn't really change any of the power rankings much. - The ZH-29 has had its fire rate reduced, so arguably it could go lower in this ranking (bare in mind the 16-17 shots per minute stat in the video was inputted wrongly by the devs at the time)

I just started playing in the beginning of Dec. and the lowest hit power is 21 for all the starting rifles. Also I saw the German stg 44 in the later campaigns.

Great video! The M1 Garand is definitely my favorite semi-auto rifle, great sights, good rate of fire, manageable recoil and fantastic velocity. I really dislike the m2 carbine though, I literally only used it for hip firing in CQC.

I am a fan of the Garand for sure, the sights for me aren't my favourite though! Yeah, M2 Cabine definitely is meant for CQC and not much else, but it's fun to use! I like giving it to my AI, though they rarely seem to use the fully auto function... Imagine if they did more often, 9 troop firing M2 carbines at you in CQC...

As a matter of fact I prefer using a bolt action against using the grand. This is the big reason why I'm not grinding the allies tree and I'm only grinding the soivet. In the future I might grind tunisa but it only because of the British weapons

I have used the fg42 only once and i remember that from 4th place in the team i ended up first.Got 30 plus kills with only that weapon.But generally i prefer bolt action rifles cause of their higher damage at longer distances.Also i agree with you about the sights.Some weapins have very good stats but their sights are awful so you cant reach their true potential.

23:03 And, once again, i have to explain this. FG 42 isn't... only a light machine gun. It is a battle rifle as well. It's a universal weapon designed for every paratrooper. It was meant to fulfill the roles of a Kar98k, MP 40 and MG 34 (while also being no heavier and no longer than the Kar98k, having a bayonet and a capability to launch rifle grenades). So historically, trooper is the best class for it. Except it was meant for paratroopers, not infantry, so it should be in a special squad, not for all of them.

I did know it was meant for paratroopers, which the devs might struggle to accurately define as they don't exist in the game unless you give it to only pilots....

@@MajorMcDonalds Giving it to pilot is a terrible idea - it is already a big stretch to give them any primary weapon slot, and it would really encourage jumping out of planes to fight on the ground. What I already proposed on the forum and talked about multiple times in somewhat related topics, is making a separate paratrooper squad (it would fight on the ground, but just have a unique weapon locked to it). And as for the history part, the history of the FG 42 is really interesting. It's obviously too long to write here, but let's just say that the requirements seemed impossible to fulfill, and that there is really no other comparable weapon in the world (which is why it's so hard to balance).

@@MajorMcDonalds Well, I would rather have specific campaigns (like Market Garden) for paratroopers to jump from planes. But sometimes, especially later in the war they fought on the ground, just like infantry, so they could be just be a regular squad, maybe with good specific perk and a lot of perk points, as they were an elite. And I think that then DF could reverse the "balancing" of the FG 42 by ammo count, as they would be a class (and squad, as I think paratroopers should be like flametroopers or mortarmen - squad specific) specific weapon.

You can also use Fg42 II on Normandy with sniper. It is super useless with scope but when take a scope out, hell ya it is super good. From the day I recieve it, my sniper squad become a assaulter squad lol.

I have found the M1 Garand is a sorta of straight upgrade to the Springfield as a Normandy Player (Dear GOD all my soldiers have Shellshock). It's more powerful, a semi instead of a Bolt-Action & it is effective at both Long & CQC if even just 2-Starred. Plus that *ping!* for every reload. So, while I know there are better weapons & the Sights are a bit large, I think it's in the Top-3 of Weapons for Standard Infantry Bois. And I am OFFENDED that it's 10th!! JK, love the video man! FG 42s were battle rifles like the AVT-40s, not light machineguns, thats a mistake by gaijin, FG42 could act like a semi auto rifle, light machine gun, assault rifle and even a sniper rifle if outfitted with the ZF-4 4x scope, its literally meant to be the standard issue firearm of the Fallschirmjägers and leaving the Karabiners, Gewehrs, MP40s and MGs to the main army, man just imagine it with the MG34 or MG42's 50 round drum mag on it. My favorite bolt-action rifle is the Carcano M41, its a solid and great rifle, and feels way too satisfying than any other bolt action. And there is the Gewehr 43 7.92x33mm Kurz modification, imo its slaps the hell out of the M2 Carbine all day, sure its a premium rifle but its there so it counts.

Personally the Italian bolt guns are my favourite because I prefer bolt guns and regardless of rounds left in the mag you can quickly shove a 6 rounder clip in the gun instead of reloading each shot manually which can allow for more shots down range and they can take bayonets- that’s enough for me but most weapons all have their uses for me the carcano rifles are my ideal choice

Nice idea - I cover much more about silver orders in my recent video, kzbin.info/www/bejne/bquTinWKh6egprc, and I do show silver order prices on some of the weapons. Maybe that helps? Not sure there's something out there that covers the prices on every rifle precisely, but it should be something that is easy to see in-game anyway if you go to the relevant section on the Logistics menu.

@@MajorMcDonalds yeah, I can see the ones that I've unlocked already, but my highest campaign is Normandy/Axis where I'm only level 12 or 13 (whichever unlocked the Panzer IV J). So while I can see what levels unlock what in campaign, logistics doesn't do a good job on briefing me what they'll cost when I get there. I'll check the video though. If it doesn't cover all of the rifles I want, that's okay. I'm sure there are plenty of other weapons I'd like in there.

@@johnjaeger3746 weapon cost 1, 2 and 3 silver orders, i am not 100% sure but 4 star weapons cost 1 silver, 5 star cost 2 silvers and highest tier weapon 3 silvers. So basically weapons up to campaing lvl 10/11 cost 1, up to 19/20 cost 2 and the rest cost 3.

@@johnjaeger3746 I think none cost more than 3 silver orders iirc, but yeah I forgot when they are not unlocked you cannot see how much they cost. I think the max any of them cost is 3 silvers, so hopefully that helps! My best advice is to decide ahead of time what rifles you want to get ASAP as you unlock them, save them until that point and try not to spend them on many things. Then when you unlock them you can get loads of the ones you wanted! Plus it means you have to train to be good at the ones you don't like as much, so it's good practice

So far my favorite on the germans is the Mannlicher M1985. The rate of fire is nuts fully maxed out on a guy w faster bolt action operation, and the iron sights are imo better than the Carcanos, and stripper clips let it beat the Kar98k.

...you forgot the part about how they all it works when your in the heat of battle and your weapon gets mud, dirt and grass in it because you have been low crawling for a 1/4 mile in the rain. The M1 Garand is good at that. They used 30.06(7.62.63) Springfield rounds. The only drawback with that weapon was the 8 round clip. That is the weapon that won WW2

The M1 Garand won the Pacific war, the war in Europe was largely won by Soviet hardware as they took on the most Germans, the rest of the Axis largely themselves, and a decent number of Italians, and for that I'd say Mosins/SVT-40/PPSh-41 combo were the guns that won Europe for simplicity on all counts. But the PPSh-41 and the SVT-40 gave the Soviets a distinct as advantage in fire rates that helped to offset the German advantage in volume of fire afforded largely by their MGs. The Garand was neat and well liked, but it was absolutely a product of it's time by using En Blocs instead of an external magazine. Between the two, the latter was more modern and the right move as they could remove them for cleaning/maintenance, could make reloads faster (they still used stripped clip reloads, but would use spare mags as well) and had more ammo in them. Granted, the SVT-40 didnt end up replacing the Mosin entirely, as the Soviets planned to do that by 1943 and had to change course to address the German invasion in 1941, and only produced 1.5 million. That said, it gave Germans enough hell for them to grab one and then make their own with the SVT-40 as inspiration, moreso than the Garand the Germans would come across. I'm not trying to hate, I just feel that it gets over hyped for being the most produced semi-auto military rifle and for being the one the Americans used most, but it really is a product of it's time. I get it, I fanboy over the ZH-29, but if any firearm beat the Axis Id say it was the PPSh-41. It was effective enough to warrant entire units armed with it to take trenches or fight in close quarters while giving the users a huge advantage in those circumstances. It also killed a lot of each and every Axis powers forces, whereas the Garand largely killed Germans, Italians and Japanese. It lacks the range of the Garand, but it made up for it through ammo capacity, fire rate, ease of production and easy to handle. The Soviets eager embrace of SMGs would eventually lead to the development of assault rifles for the Soviets, whereas the Garand inspired the aesthetics of the M14. The SMGs would also dominate close quarters engagements. The Garands advantages against bolt actions were increased ROF and having about 3 more rounds per clip. The SVT-40 had slightly more ammo, and an external mag that could be removed and replaced while existing in good numbers.

@@MajorMcDonalds It's simple physics: By firing you cause a tiny explosion at the bottom of the bullet which propels the pullet forwards while at the same time seperating it from the casing. As the only direction the bullet can go, as it is in a barrel, is forward it moves forward. But as every executed force automatically produces a force of the same size in it's exactly opposing direction, the same amount of energy which goes into the bullet, goes backwards into the gun. The higher the weight of the gun, the lower the recoil as the same amount of energy moving mass X can only move Mass 2X by 50% etc It's not even real 'gun stuff', it's just baseline simple phycis ^^ Regarding guns: Go check on what the most powerful handgun calibers are and you will find, that 99% of said handguns are VERY bulky, heavy handguns, to 1. be strong enough not to break under the force and 2. be heavy enough to make the recoil bareable

To check firing modes, go to the menu, and controls before you join a game, it should be listed under ‘weapons’ what button it is. But also bare in mind some SMGs don’t actually have alternative firing modes. Some have just full auto, so you will start off as that and can’t change it. Some will be just semi auto too, and you can’t change it and you will start off as it. Check the weapon description and stats to see what modes each weapon has

Well, they are just improved versions of the underlying weapon, but in actual fact the weapon itself doesn't change, it just gets that attachment. Considering that, the weapon orders should remain the same, and it will depend on how much the devs nerf them, but one could argue they are a few positions higher than normal. Not many positions higher, because you'd rather have the weapons themselves that are very good, but because you can get 3 grenades off before having to use the underlying weapon, they have more capability. It's just the reload time between grenades that might cost you if not used correctly. Not really sure whether that answers your question, so tl;dr yes they make the weapon as a whole better, but after you shoot the grenades it's just the same thing, so it's slightly better but not much, especially as the weapons that have the grenade launchers most often aren't near the top anyway.

@@MajorMcDonalds your last point I think hits at what I was mainly thinking about. Does any weapon with a GL jump a few slots up above another rifle? Like in Tunisia, the smle has a GL. does that version rate higher than the Enfield no4?

@@robawtrob8399 It CAN do, it depends on how you use it too. I'd probably say yes it does, but not by much, especially as they are hard to compare literally considering one is just a very good boltie and the other is a worse boltie with a unique feature that the other doesn't have. But in this specific case, considering the Enfield No.4 isn't MUCH better than the SMLE (without GL), I'd have to say the SMLE with GL wins

Playing Allies in Tunisia and loving all the weapons there, hence the SMLE vs Enfield No.4 question :) I really enjoy all the bolt actions. One last question. Does the Game consider the SMLE with bayonet and the SMLE with GL as completely different weapons? like if i upgrade a SMLE to 4* can i strap a grenade launcher on it later instead of the bayonet and have a 4* SMLE with GL? or is it 2 "different" weapons?

@@robawtrob8399 glad to hear it! And that’s actually a very good question… I’ve never tried, so I can’t really answer. But I’d imagine they don’t let you do that as they are different “types” of attachments, as in the other one might just not show up in the attachments menu for that weapon, but equally there is a good chance that they are classified as separate weapons entirely and that might be my most likely guess haha

In Berlin Axis, it's a normal rifle. In Normandy Axis, it counts only as a sniper (and you can't take the scope off in Normandy, unfortunately)

I came here just to say that the m1 garand is worse than the fg42 in literally every way. M1 garand is considered the worst semi auto in game outside of the early war gewher. I am max level on every campaign every faction (only 1 faction in Stalingrad so far) so know what I’m talking about. I’m not sure if your thumbnail was just meant to shock people by putting a bad (in comparison) rifle M1 garand next to the best rife fg42 II or what. But that alone makes me not want to even watch the video and hear your opinions since they seem to be so far from reality. And that’s not even a matter of perspective like compare those two in every way possible from fire rate on semi to msg cap to recoil to dps etc. the weight is probably only advantage to m1. Not trying to bitch but you seem like an interesting new channel and just wanted to be blunt (even if I come across as a dick) to let you know how your thumbnail comes across to all those who get this vid recommended and don’t watch it. Hey there, yes I know the FG 42 is much better in every way! If you watched the video you should have seen that the FG 42 and the FG 42 II take the top 2 spots whereas the Garand is much lower down the pecking order. You are very right in what you say, I don’t blame you at all! Honestly speaking, I was trying out a new thumbnail design to try and have a bit of clickbait or to inspire debate and differences of opinions in the comments. It was my first time doing it and I’m testing to see what works. Besides, I don’t think I even intended to put the big red X next to the FG 42 deliberately, I actually think putting it next to the M1 Garand would have worked better as people who probably don’t have as much knowledge as you often think the Garand is amazing/a big staple of WW2, and been more “true to the word” if I put it next to it as well. Thanks for your opinion though, I know it was a bit confusing!
