All about LFO's. Plenty of useful info here. Some specific to Hydrasynth, and some that is universally applicable. There's ALOT of content here. Grab a drink. Fire up your Hydra. Class in Session.
- Those of you who notice the Level of LFO 2 - and kudos to you if you caught it! At 48:42 I catch the mistake and explain how it happened / how it was easily overlooked. Then I explain the relationship between the fixed AMP routing to LFO 2, The assignment from LFO 5 to LFO2's level, and how this will affect the feel and dynamics of the sequence. Glad it happened, because I think it elaborated on details that wouldn't have otherwise been covered.

Sequences on the LFOS can be done with the keyboard but the asm dude skips step after step and starts zooming around without explaining what he is doing. Worst tutorials ever! 👽

my main man señor OSC with a new Hydrasynth video. I am dangerously close to buying this synth, just gotta sell my MODX. Good content, keep it up!

Don’t do it. I own both. The MODX is awesome in its own way. Standard native instrument samples, good arpegiator, good beat production, etc. Both boards are beasts.

Major OSC another trick I like to use in the Modulation Seq. Is to max bipolar Release (+) to add additional feedback for one step. On my KORG R3

Maybe you can help me understand what’s going on with my Hydrasynth resonance levels. Using a simple saw, when I turn the resonance and the filter all the way up, compared to my Peak synth, there is a very harsh/sharp high pitch sound that is very unpleasant. It’s as if the resonance amplification is a.bit more intense than on the Peak synth. 3 o’clock position on the hydra is like max on my other synths. Both synths self oscillate but the hydra on a few filters is waaay to high and sharp sounding. Not all the filters the low pass filters do this- I’m guessing because of the shape of the cutoff at max levels on these filters. Thanks
@MajorOSC
@MajorOSC 3 жыл бұрын
There's dozens of filters. The default on hydrasynth is a ladder. Peak does NOT have a ladder filter. It's a modernized version of the wasp filter. You'll be hearing all sorts of differences. ;)

@@MajorOSC thanks for the info. Ya, just read a great article on filters and their differences/histories and it mentions novation basing their filters on the Wasp. Cool stuff. After all these years, I finally know what all these terms like "ladder" "pole" "12db" "slope" mean on a technical level.

42:34 super sound with LFO controlling amp envelope amount. Sync this up with drums. Great cue/track starter there.

Thank you for your videos, the hydrasynth was my first synth and it was a bit overwhelming (and still is, the possibilities seems endless). I got a few Behringer monosynths later which helped me grasp some basic concepts and get a better understanding of the hydra, but your videos are superbly instructional and help me a lot exploring the possibilities of this instrument.

Wow, the Hydra as a first. Good luck man, the thing has a 1000 options. Oh and be aware having this many options is not common among synths.

@@mallechilie Yeah, even the Neutron which is "simple" compared to the hydrasynth can be explored for months (at least for a newbie like me). I'm having a ton of fun though :)

Awesome video as per usual, thank you! So, when you create a matrix assignment of LFO1+ to filter cutoff, the original bipolar routing still exists? I asked about this in the user group and I was unsure of how it behaves. I would love a feature addition that allows you to quickly be able to change the polarity of LFO1 to avoid having to set up this assignment, since its essentially already done for you.

In the mod matrix you keep scrolling through the list till you see a plus sign (+). The video explains this in alot of detail early on.

Major OSC oh maybe I didn’t explain what I meant well enough. I watched the entire video and I’m aware of the way to access the unipolar LFO. I just was asking if you assign LFO+ to filter cutoff manually in the matrix, does the bipolar routing still stay in tact for the knob or does it get replaced? You know what I mean ? I would check but I’m not at home currently.
@mikkosalonen6111
@mikkosalonen6111 3 жыл бұрын
@@BIG_PASTA it gets replaced, but you can just create another routing for the bipolar LFO in the mod matrix, keep its level at 0, and then adjust the levels when you wanna change to bipolar.
