Dale is my absolute favorite Disney character. If I could just take a second to be in astonishment of the incredible effort you guys take to make your supporters feel truly connected to your channel. The fact that you respond to each comment, that you will stay on live until you battery literally dies to make sure you respond to each super chat and as many other questions as possible. Li Hing Mui was originally brought to Hawai'i by the Chinese immigrants and became a snack staple of the islands 🤤 Kids would go to these local Chinese Mom and Pop stores and buy these dried sweet and sour plums and suck on them as a snack and spit out the seeds when we were done. The Li Hing powder used to flavor the plums are now used in cocktails and top things like ice cream, shave ice, fruit, malasadas, etc. Oh so 'ono (delicious)! 🤤 Glad you got the chance to try it, it's a great way to put some life into your drink! 🤙 😁

Hi Peter and Kitra, Shirley here! We’re heading to Honolulu in May and will be staying two nights in Waikiki and three nights at the Aulani and possibly the last night at the Marriott on the north shore by the PCC. This will be our first trip back to Hawaii in 19 years. Am rewatching your Hawaii vlogs to get ready for the trip. Just wanted to tell you that Li Hung Mui is a salted dehydrated plum, a traditional Chinese treat like a salty candy. Chinese people like to just put the salted plum in their mouth and just suck on it like a mini jawbreaker. In Hawaii, they like to take the meat of the salted plum and grind it down into a powder and use it as a seasoning, a mighty salty but sweet seasoning. It’s an acquired taste that will make you pucker like you’re sucking on a lemon, but if you’re Chinese like me it’s just a treat you grew up eating like candy. Thank you for your videos. You both make my day when I get to watch your videos. And Kitra, hope you’re on the mend soon. I know you finally got out of the house today. That’s great girl! Take it one day at a time!!!!👍👍😄

Love these videos guys. I'm not looking forward to the end of your Aulani vacay lol. Happy Belated Birthday Kitra! Li hing powder is great on pineapples. With the li hing powder, Me and my gf have eaten an entire pineapple in one sitting before we realized it lol. But I can definitely understand Peter's dislike of it cause too much of it can get really sour. The most common way we eat it here is straight from the dried plum treats all the local mom and pop shops sell here. We call it li hing mui seed. Most just pop the entire seed in their mouth straight from the bag lol. I however never liked eating it that way. It's way too sour for my taste. Also if you ever get a sore throat, eating the li hing mui actually helps to make it go away. Sometimes it works instantly. All that being said, I gotta try that drink. Soup made with Kahuku Sweet Corn?? I gotta try THAT! Never been a fan of corn chowder but Kahuku Sweet Corn is the best! I used to get it kinda often as a kid. It's great boiled and served covered with butter on the side with some steak and rice. Local style! I love eating cherry tomatoes straight from the package. Like Kitra said, they're usually sweet and oh so yummy. Great on any kind of salad. My comments on the steak are: 👍Well done Peter and yes Kitra, it probably is Disney magic lol. Those deserts looked life-changing. All hail the Peter-face lol.

I think it would be awesome on a Dole Whip! 😁😋 Makahiki is the most beautifully themed Disney restaurant in my opinion! And it looks like they really did a wonderful job turning into a plated 3 course dinner venue. The price is pretty good for that! The textured ceiling at Makahiki is assembled from individually cut pieces of coconut shells. 😊 We learned that on our first trip there. Mahalo nui for sharing your delicious meal with us! 😋😋😋

Li hing is actually pronounced without the "ng". So it's Lee Hee. In case you wanted to know. 😀 Li hing mui is one of my favorite candy flavors. The rock candy is amazing and I bring many bags home with me after my trips. So happy that you enjoyed Makahiki. We were there right before covid so it was a buffet with Chip and Dale coming by the tables and visiting.

No major differences, however the environment was much more social (obviously) and the dining options included the buffet (if I’m not mistaken). We ventured off property to eat at a spot across the street in a small mall, it was quite good, can’t recall the name. Less crowded in Hawaii is a blessing

Oh the food!!!! So good - we had the best meals, too. At Ama Ama I had one dessert with a little cotton candy on the top. Every meal we had was so good! And yes, those Menehune did an excellent job with the theming of the restaurant! The entire resort is 100% telling the story, which is so amazing (both Disney & Hawaiian culture). Makahiki is so beautiful at night - we only ate there for breakfast and an early dinner (sun was still up). Did you learn that Olelo means "language" so everything there has the Hawaiian word on it? I found out the hard way when I asked them what the word on the floor meant and the cast member said "Floor". D'oh! Another great video - Aloha!
