Great video on a very simple and effective technique. 👍 I remember I made a sweet stab out of recorded goats a few years back! The sky is limit when it comes to cycling through weird sound sources, then stacking them into chords with the right processing! 😂

@@Thought-Forms Of course, and thanks for the kind words on the Sonic Academy stuff! Been loving your videos and your style as well. It's concise, to-the-point, and most importantly, authentic! I can tell these are techniques you have been using in your music, and that you are genuinely excited/passionate about sharing them. it's been inspiring to me over the last few years as I've started making more atmospheric DnB with my Man From Another Place project. Big ups to you, Groovin in G, Tim Cant, and a few other channels I've come across that are keeping these timeless genres and production techniques alive and well!

Awesome! I just discovered your channel and definitely subscribed. I didn't think anybody still paid attention to or created these kinds of tracks anymore. (Your drum n bass tracks are incredible, by the way). I have an all-hardware setup and I love making music like this. I use a Korg X5D module, an Ensoniq ASR-10, and a Boss DR-202 which is a great little DnB drum machine, among others. I can't wait to watch some of your past videos on your channel. Thanks!
@Thought-FormsАй бұрын
Thanks mate! There is still a big desire for these more old school sounding tracks, and IMO you end up with something much more "real" when producing on all that old gear. Modern DAW productions are just TOO clinical and sterile to my ears...hardware comes with imperfections that I enjoy. Love that X5D! I have one too, really killer sounds on that thing - and can't go wrong with an ensoniq sampler
@synthsoniqАй бұрын
@@Thought-Forms Cool! Thanks again for all your great videos. Yeah, I agree about the appeal of older gear. Funny, I was just telling someone today that I'm going to try your technique from another of your videos, where I'll sample a single note of an evolving pad from the X5D into the Ensoniq and play chords to see all the movement. Thanks!

Very nice, really enjoyed your explanations of the filter types and modulation! I know it's about stabs but that rolling bassline is sublime too 😂 Also FM sounds are nice for stabs as well, as far as I know the DX100 was often used for them in dub techno 👍

Thanks for this. Another quick win might be to use the multi-note's velocity spread feature. Just a little bit will cause the chords to vary a little. I like the effect of variation within the sameness.

This is so cool, I love to see the different ideas you have to get these chord stabs. I have to admit that I’m new to the term tech house though I definitely remember hearing it. I want to try some of these ideas with the Wavestation vst as I don’t have the Triton. I suppose the Wavestation might have predated this style from the sound of it but …rules are made to be broken lol. Thanks again, I always dig your tutorials!
@Thought-Forms3 ай бұрын
Thanks mate! Check out Terrys Cafe 3 - fantastic compilation of tracks in the TLB style. You can absolutely do this with the Wavestation too, will be a bit more tedious to program but 100% doable - and to your point, you could probably come up with some really whacky stabs with the vector morphing. Actually that sounds awesome, I'm going to test it out tonight LOL

Nice video. Similar technique is used in modern deep/tech productions by guys like Janeret, Mike Sharon and many more. Thanks man! Glad you were able to pull a few ideas out from here. All the drum sounds were from the Ueberschall "Jam Box" sample CD. TLB lifted a few samples off it in "The Music" (those vocoded vocals) - figured there was a high chance he pulled some drum shots from it as well
