Thank you so much for this. I never experienced this as a child, while I often heard bamboo bursting in the distance. As an adult now, I wanted to know about this, but hardly anyone does this again. I don't hear bamboo bursting again. I contemplated driving around random strange areas I never went to in the hope of finding people engaged in this so they can show me, but the crime situation is not how it was long ago. I had no idea that all you needed was kerosene. Since when kerosene so explosive? I always thought it needed carbide to generate the flammable acetylene gas, and I have no clue where sells carbide. Even kerosene is hard to get these days. Maybe in the next few years when my children get older (they are currently younger than the boy in this video), I may try it using this tutorial.

Plenty people does put wire or rope around the bamboo so if It splits I doesn't damage no one and the wire holds it

The cannons made of steel are better than bamboo because it is stronger and kicks the projectile further and a bamboo cannon can be used as an artillery pice.

Yes The Pipe Cannon is a Weapon and can get you in some Legal Issues. But The Bamboo Cannons are Traditional without those Legal Issues. At least in T&T.
