You know...I've been watching you videos for a very long time. I just wanted to say Thank You for sharing all of your knowledge with us. I know it's your business and it's how you make money, but you do it with class, pride, you are never condescending, rude or cocky. You are stright forward, you don't talk unnecessarily about irrelevant things, and the way you explaine information makes it easy to comprehend. Your voice is perfect for videos. I always know when someone is on your site if I hear your voice. Lol. So for all that you do to help us succeed at what we want to learn, Thank You so very much.

I purchased the zipper chain, zipper slider, and basting tape from sail rite and followed this tutorial to make 4 cushion covers for the dinette in my horse trailer living quarters (camper). Thanks to your fabric calculator and this video, I was able to do all 4 today (9 hrs total with breaks) They look like like they were made by a professional. I used my late grandmother’s sewing machine for the first time since she passed. It’s a bernina and it worked great! I was intimidated to do this, but I feel accomplished now! Thank you!!

Thanks so much for the detailed tutorial. I must be a slow learner, because I had to watch parts of it numerous times. It took me 3 days to make the first 30 minute cushion, but the second will go much faster! The fabric calculator was a godsend. Thank you, thank you, thank you. My cushion may have been the smallest ever calculated (a mattress for a doll bed). The finished products won't win a prize, but the grandgirls won't mind.

It does take a while to lay out, measure and cut, but the actual sewing is super fast and easy. And the results are great. For those that don’t want to spend a lot of money on a hot knife and tempered glass (because I’m only doing this once) a $15 wood burning tool from Home Depot and an old cookie sheet work really well.

Wow! This is a FABULOUS tutorial. You give great directions and explanations as you go through the entire process. What perfect timing! I have the high density foam and 8oz denim Fabric for cushions for my travel trailer. I know that the denim needs to be stabilized, so I’ planning to apply fusible fleece to the wrong side. This is a fabulous method of covering/making cushions! I’ve used other methods in the past, but NEVER again. I’ve used boxed corners for totes and bags. I’ve never seen this method of inserting a zipper. None of the patterns I’ve used have said to close the zipper and re-install the zipper tab. This is brilliant! No more butting the edges at the open end of the zipper! Thank you SO much for the tutorial and the fabric calculator! Stay Well! Muskoka ON🇨🇦

I've put off this project for 2.5 years because of my fear of zippers. The instruction was clear and concise and the use of new materials and methods awe-inspiring, Thanks so much much! My first cushion took a day-and-a-half and I made an error when I folded my fabric to fit my work area (floor), but my second attempt took much less time and looks beautiful. I have more than enough confidence to finish the other 5 cushions for my two window seats. Wonderful!

The best video ever on how to sew a box cushion My son and I were in the process of converting an old van to become a camper, and we had to make cushions for the seats. We had no experience in sewing whatsoever, and it seemed like a daunting task. In the beginning we thought we had to get a professional to sew them for us, but it would have been far too expensive. Instead we did a search on how to make a cushion, and to our luck, we found this excellent video. By following the instructions step by step, we managed to sew some beautiful well-fitting cushions. We even followed the link to the Sailrite website and used the fabric calculator to measure the amount of fabric we should use. The measurements were so precise that we only needed to buy exactly the fabric that we needed, with no leftover. We live in Denmark, so it was not really possible to order the materials from you, but had we been closer we would definitely have ordered everything from the Sailrite shop. The videos have been so inspiring that we we want to come back another time, to learn how to sew curtains and other items for the van and for the house. So thank you once again for helping and inspiring to creativity, it has meant the world to us.

This is by-far the best method I've seen, using the tape is definitely helpful since I was using Sailrite's vinyl fabric. I did use a regular zipper made for cushions, which was still easy to do. If you make them frequently then you could probably do it in 30 min, but count on at least an hour for 1 cushion, the second one will go faster. Thank you Sailrite!

Followed this video step by step and I'm sooo pleased with how my cushion covers came out! The only thing I did different was instead of using a small piece of scrap just over the zipper ends, I put some on each of the corners as well to give them extra strength and make them look more 'square'. This was my very first attempt at doing something like this, so it took WAY longer than 30 minutes. I'll be saving this video in my 'favorites' for future reference. Thank you!

I recovered a friend's rocking chair cushions and used this tutorial for the bottom cushion. It took me HOURS just to figure out the math. I measured, re-measured and measured some more. I finally took a big breath and cut the material while feeling a sense of doom that I had done it wrong. Like others here said, I had to watch this video over and over again while sewing. So many times rewinding again and again studying each step. (I have to admit there were a few cuss words during the process.) However, when I put the cushion inside the cover tonight, it fit! This video/technique is awesome! I used the technique to make a large carrying bag for a Kuranda dog bed (added handles). I had to figure out the zipper length that would accommodate the bed, but after that, I used the calculator and followed the instructions. My problem is I am not a very "precise" person, but with this technique, I highly recommend some precision with measuring and notching out the corners. For my first time (cutting fabric to finished product), it took about three hours, but with practice, the time should improve. I will definitely use this technique for covering cushions in the future. The basting tape is my new best friend. THANK YOU SAILRITE!

Absolutely brilliant tutorial. The fiddliest bit I found was the zipper, not the sewing but the little puller. Just about to start the second one. Thank you!

Fascinating! Never saw a box cushion made in this manner, which does greatly simplify it's construction! The two-sided tape appears to be a tremendous help. Thanks for this helpful lesson.

Great tutorial ! Despite not having a lot of the equipment (hot knife, table, clear ruler) I was able to get this made, albeit in three hours not thirty minutes. To anyone reading comments to see if they can manage this ... you absolutely can. Just don't buy old basting tape and hope it sticks....lesson learned. I wound up using pins but yeah.

A wonderful tutorial! Thx!! I have done a lot of sewing, over many years--mainly clothing. But I always love to find a new and better way to do something: your way of doing the box corners, with the corner cut-outs and the zipper in the middle of the sides, is clever and so much more fun to sew than what I've done previously (a top and bottom piece, with a long strip to sew for the sides, with tricky maneuvering around the corners). (NB: You can also make the cushion with a fabric with a one-way directional pattern (i.e., a pattern that has one way that looks right (e.g., dogs all standing upright) and the other way looks upside down (all the dogs with their feet in the air!); simply sew 2 pieces together with the seam at the bottom of each design (at the dogs' feet), and then cut out the cushion with that seam at the center, parallel to the edge for the zipper. This may be too confusing if you're not an experienced sewer!)

GREAT VIDEO! When pushing the corners out I use a chopstick. It really helps get those corners well and save on fingers if your fabric is sturdy.

⭐✨😊 Happy New Year! May we all find it in our hearts to give more in 24 for it's by giving we all receive. Life isn't about who can attain the best simply because the best comes from where all gave way creating the betterment where each are able just the same. Where it is possible for our given efforts to change into being effortless. Building the trust in relationships gives protection and peace. It's really simple to love everyone when you understand that you don't have to like in order to give respect and that my friend is the root of all love! We can accept the truth and meet in the middle because no matter what the opinion is right Accompanies wrong. Nonetheless each of the two are equally dependent upon the other where it is the given fact both serve the same purpose in a different way. Life is complex not complicated misunderstandings create our natures rAw design to get mixed up ass backwards in a battle of tug a WaR which is ASSINIE because no one has the given ability to survive life we can though give to become better by giving so no one is left struggling rather all are enabled by striving to give more we all gain the ability to become thriving. When we die those we leave behind still gain from the bond of our giving love. Love is everlasting.....it's easy and we all have the means it's called RESPECT. WE ARE DIFFERENT ALWAYS HAVE BEEN ALWAYS WILL BE ITS CALLED UNIQUE! ✌🏼

Never having made anything like this before, I foolishly told my son I would make 2 cushions for a bench he made…and he chose a faux leather material. Yikes! Watched your video several times-the basting tape and zipper tape were fabulous ideas. Took me probably 3 hours for just one and I have to say, no one was more surprised than I when I turned it right side out and it worked!! Not perfect but he was happy. Now I have to find more cushions to cover so I can work out my mistakes. Thank you so much!

I am just 8 minutes into this video, when I feel the need to commend you for your smarts; While I came into this video thinking it was going to be *just* a tutorial, I soon realize it is also a business marketing tactic, hidden within the scope of regular DIY youtubers and whatever they are wishing to achieve with their home projects. I am not sure if others realize this ploy and perhaps they will pop onto that calculator and start buying cushions from you! Lol…. I am going to continue to watch because I like the way you articulate yourself. Did you ask a lot of questions in class during your school years? ;Good teachers/ instructors usually grow up knowing what questions to ask. #problemsolvers
