My husband is my enabler, he said he wanted a house filled with quilts. So in less than a year I have made 16 quilts & 10 table runners. He has gotten me every supply I could possibly want 🥰 but I told him no long arm at my age. I quilt on my large hoop embroidery machine and larger projects I send out. I am having too much fun buying fabric and piecing quilt tops.

Thank you for this tutorial. I have been looking for this pattern also. what is the measurement of the triangle fabric or how do you determine the measurement to cut the triangle fabric?
@loriar1027 Жыл бұрын
I first cut a square of 5.5" fabric and then cut that in half on the diagonal. That gives you a triangle that is very slightly bigger than you need, but I feel like I get a better result if I cut it bigger and trim it down after it's sewn. I hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

Sew a bunch of the small colored squares to white background squares. Sew the corresponding rectangle to make a 4-1/2”. Repeat using the left over colored squares in place of the background squares. Cut triangle edge pieces. Lay it out on point. Sew into rows. Sew together rows. Add edges. Quilt. Bind. Right?

Note about the side setting triangles. If you cut a bigger square and then cut 1/4 square triangles instead of 1/2 square triangles you will not have bias edges. That said, the tablerunner is beautiful.

Hi! I love the pattern! What is the name of the charm pack you used ? The fabric is absolutely beautiful!

Beautiful, is there a reason that the first block white squares go a different direction then the others? Or just a design choice?
@loriar1027 Жыл бұрын
It was a complete oversight on my part! We'll call it a design choice, though, since it's done. Lol!
@LeahTees Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the video. Can I ask why you are spraying the runner before you quilt it?
@loriar1027 Жыл бұрын
I spray it for a couple of reasons. The setting triangles are cut on the bias, so they get a bit wavy with the handling they go through with sewing the rows together. So starching helps prevent pleats when I sew the borders on. Also, it helps keep the fabric really flat during the quilting process, so I don't get any wrinkles or pleats. I feel like it helps me get a slightly more accurate result--but like most things in quilting, it's personal preference.

That’s a “stitch in the ditch” presser foot. I use mine often but have never seen it used in this way. An old quilter, I’m always learning. And your explanation of mitering corners that are not right angles was teriffic.
@loriar1027 Жыл бұрын
Thank you! And these mitered corners are much better than my first attempt. Practice helps!

What did you use to draw the quilting designs? What/why did you spray something after measuring for your binding?
@loriar10275 ай бұрын
@victoriamurphy3771 Hello! I use a water soluble marking pen to draw out my designs. There are several brands, like Marks B Gon, and they all work equally well. What you see me spraying here is water to remove some of the quilt design marks that I had missed previously. I don't always spray the marks away. Sometimes, I leave them till the end and then put the whole project into the washing machine. Thanks for watching!
@terrigerald4171Ай бұрын
Where did you find your cutting mats? Or what is the brand?
@loriar1027Ай бұрын
@terrigerald4171 The large white mat is made by Christopher Thompson for Riley Blake. I think the spinning mat I used in this video was made by Fat Quarter Shop, but I've since replaced it with a Creative Grids spinning mat.

How do you link the two ends of the binding strips?
@loriar1027Ай бұрын
@lilybachhuenguyen2630 When you get to the end, leave about 10 inches unsewn. Then trim the two sides so that they overlap 2.5 inches (or whatever the width of your binding is). Then put the two ends together in a perpendicular fashion like you did the other lengths of binding and stitch at a45 degree angle.

If I could just get a picture of the completed runner that would meet my needs. Just want to refer to it as I put things together.

@loriar1027 Жыл бұрын
It's actually not bad compared to up north. I grew up in Indiana, and I love the weather here in Texas. We do get one or two weather events each winter that close schools and highways, but they only last a day or two. And as a northerner, you'll laugh at what kind of weather shuts things down here.
