Any update on this? I have wanted to build one for a while. It would make tuning so much easier. I can hardly imagine doing jetting/rollers/clutch springs without annoying my neighbors. Currently I have a road I blast but I know I am pissing people off.

No, I moved shortly after I did this video into a smaller garage and had to start doing reno's etc. It's sitting in the corner I will hopefully someday get back to it..

Rpm pickup only used 1 ground that clamped to the bike from the ardyno? And one wire that was wrapped around plug wire? Thanks

Yes the trigger was just a wire wrap on the spark plug wire and one ground.

Hi i hope you can help me. Is the littelfuse 55505 sensor plug and play on the ardyno pcb?? No need for resistors in line? I have a cheapo hall sensor like your aliexpress one and it works but simpledyno will record is as 5000000rpms every time the magnet passes. Im wondering if the sensor is wrong.
@pitobread4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it works out of the box, at least in my usage. I tried a few different aliexpress/amazon sensors but they did not work right at all. You can try changing the magnet polarity n/s s/n to see if that helps but most of the china sensors I tried were flaky at best.

Have you looked for a Fan to cool the radiator? Isn't that a problem or in small runs doesn't escalate temperature that quickly ?
@pitobread3 жыл бұрын
Heatsoak is always a concern with consecutive runs on a dyno. That motor was air cooled and it was probably about 10c in the shop. But yes a large blower fan to cool the engine is needed.
@TBrites3 жыл бұрын
@@pitobread what should be the airflow quantity you would be aiming for? when chosing a fan to cool the radiator.

I was really having trouble with the RPM pickup from the first sparks, though I was very good at anti-jamming. I also tried with capacitive touch clamps and also tried winding wires on high-voltage wires, but it didn't work. right from the start, the PC hung. Is there any better experience you can share with me? Thank you so much for your help!

My inductive clamp was not good, I would say failure would be more correct. Wrapping the ignition wire was the only solution that worked for me.

So are those figures correct ? your wheel mass was 131kg ? also doesnt your rear gearbox have a ratio of 10:1 or something not 1 as you had shown.....and you had 1000mm for tyre wheel diameter , and looks like you have added the mass of the shaft and roller twice unless the program can calculate the difference between the shaft going through the roller so not to add all the shaft weight/mass if that make sence.....download performance trends demo version and enter the figures in there program wheel setup to double check yours etc.... Brett
@pitobread3 жыл бұрын
No probably not. I had not messed with anything other than reading thru the on screen prompts. IIRC in the ARDyno it has both the mass of the roller and the mass of the shaft and makes you input it in separate areas but I haven't looked at it in a while. I will check out the other software but my dyno is still in the corner of my garage since I moved and I haven't looked at it in a while.

Want a piece of advise with the RPM pulse acquisition rather than using the INDUCTIVE to which no other electrical devices are near the test that produces other noise or magnetic field that will give a glitch on that sensor. Find an appropriate electronic circuit that will catch the PULSER COIL going to the ECU if FI or CDI if carbureted...the Pulser coil is the one that provides the true rotational power of the engine. That is what we did with our project and very consistent at all runs.
@pitobread4 жыл бұрын
Thanks i will look into that if I have issues.
@ericthered96554 жыл бұрын
I really don't think this works as a dyno. All it will measure is the work required to bring the wheel up to a reasonable speed where friction will become the limiting factor. A proper dyno must have an opposing force you can measure.
@pitobread4 жыл бұрын
This is an Inertia Dyno. It is a well documented type of dyno that works for my requirements. Your description on how this doesn't work describes exactly how it does. You have a static mass and you measure the time of the acceleration. I have not seen any wheel slip on mine, but mine is knurled.
@ericthered96554 жыл бұрын
@@pitobread I see. I guess that would work for small motors.
@pitobread4 жыл бұрын
@@ericthered9655 It works for any size. Your mass has to be correct for the range you are looking for. They make inertia dynos for cars even.
@ericthered96554 жыл бұрын
@@pitobread I understand the concept. The problem is the physics assume zero friction. So yes, if you used a massive flywheel you could measure anything provided it doesn't spin the wheel so fast that friction changes the equation.

So there is an arduino board inside the control box and also an ardyno board inside the box....
@MCircuits4 жыл бұрын
It is the simplest INERTIA DYNO u can find..and it works as it was intended..IF u just know what you are doing. we have it. and the moment you change any on the bike being tested will actually be NOTED and VISIBLE on the plotted graph...That is the only main target of the SIMPLEST DYNO ever..555 timer as capture shaping of the sensor pulses will not work...too many glitches..that is why maybe ARDYNO was junked.
