Thanks for the video. I love seeing the different ways people come up with to handle a task. This appears to be the easiest so I'll give it a shot.

Thanks Bruce, They're all pretty easy. Its just nice to have alternative methods to fall back on. The magnet actually tuned out to be a great idea. I can hear that "click" as the tool as coming down, and I know its in place. Don

Just remember that the tool isn’t at the correct height until it’s locked in place. So if you adjust it, then lock it, the height will change, so this can be an iterative process. This is true for any of these methods.

Put a cap on the magnetic end, something you have to remove to use the thing (like a pen cap). That way you always remove any accumulated chips.

The thing I like about the magnet is that you can hear and audible click when the tool hits the ways.

Don, off topic Question. I have a vintage 11” Rockwell Drill Press (circa 1970’s) I bought off craigslist a few weeks ago. It worked initially when I bought it but now it won’t turn on. After I ran it the first time I noticed right where the cord exists the motor there is gash in the cord. Probably from breakdown over the years from being bent. So I wrapped it in electrical tape, but now it won’t turn on. I wonder if I pulled something loose or if the cord shorter out? Not sure but any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like you're on target. I don't know which motor you have, but there should be an access cover right adjacent to the cord where it goes into the motor. If you pull it off, you should see the connectors inside. Id remove the cord completely, shorten it past the bad spot and reinstall it. If the cord looks crappy when you're shortening, then it may be time for a new one. I did a Dunlap drill press restore for this channel a few months back. You may want to have a look at that and see if that motor is similar. good luck. Don
