I watched this with my son. He loves your channel. He's 5 and loves trying to make small dioramas. He messed up on something today and I reminded him how you took your mistakes in this one and turned around and that kept him going!

The figure sculpting and coloring is really excellent. Also, great job on the big bubble camouflage, but I think the little internal bubbles add to the whole look, usually a flaw, but in this case a happy accident.

Its gorgeous!! I think the bubbles work really well in this scene - they look like something is bubbling up from below the mermaid, and they add a cool textural element. So it was an accident, but a HAPPY accident!!

This looks great and the small bubbles make the water even more like water. The idea to cover up things which went wrong was great. It even looks more interesting with it than without, so it was kind of a happy resin accident?! 😉

Try sealing the foam with modpodge that will seal the foam. Paint isn’t enough to stop the resin from reacting with the foam. Air is probable coming from the foam that caused the bubbles. Hope that helps

Oh. my damn! This is amazing! I don't know what you were talking about the bubbles being a mistake. I'd imagine there would be bubbles in shallow water if your mermaid had just swum into the cave. That came out exactly like it was supposed to. Love it! Your sculpting is wonderful! Have you ever thought about doing the ocean scene from The Last Unicorn?

I started out using Dr Crafty resin, and it's great, until a year later when it turns yellow. 😭 I recommend Total Boat resin. The reason why you got those huge bubbles is because of how much resin you poured in a single pour. Next time, pour it in layers. It'll make it less likely to overheat! Either way, I think it turned out absolutely fantastic!! Your sculpting is so good. I'm very jealous of your skills. 💙
@missminilife2 жыл бұрын
Oooh 😯 I’m gonna try that resin! I didn’t know it could turn yellow later. I did pour it in layers but on the bottom layer I didn’t flame thrower the bubbles but in the top I did so there’s a line between them 😭. Thank you so much for the info and the recommendations though cause that helps a ton! 🥰🥰

Have you seen the webcomic called "The Little Trashmaid?" Its kind of a modern take on 'The Little Mermaid,' a cute little mermaid living in a modern ocean, playing with and collecting human trash and being affected by the pollution. Its cute, but also sobering because our oceans really are in a bad way.
