Make a Statement with Gorgeous Inspirational Floral Soap!

This soap has beautiful & inspiring quotes in them. This project will really get your creative juices flowing; customize every aspect of it (quotes, background, flowers). This project is easy but requires patience! I tried it 2-3 times before & kept burning the soap! ***Chop soap into small & uniform chunks. Melt on lowest heat setting. Don’t allow soap to heat over 150 degrees Fahrenheit (65 degrees Celsius). Cool to 140 degrees Fahrenheit (60 degrees Celsius) before adding fragrance oil. For each pound of soap, you can add about 15 milliliters fragrance. Adding too much or a certain type of fragrance may turn soap a yellowish color. I melt a small amount at a time because I don’t like re-melting soap (I always burn it). *The soap is clear, so spray alcohol (I used 99%, but any alcohol should be fine) before & after each layer to rid the soap of tiny bubbles. I didn't have to allow my soap to dry between layers because I was busy melting the next layer. The time needed to dry depends on how thick you make your layers. Dry soap completely before adding the last layer & before un-molding. *The last layer of the soap is solid white (opaque) so the flowers & deo foil stand out. If you left this layer clear like the rest, the words & flowers would be harder to see. Leave it white or color the last [opaque] layer to compliment flowers/decorations {EXAMPLE: If you have clear soap with yellow, gold, or orange flowers, then a light purple or blue-violet background would make those yellow & orange flowers really pop!}.
PACKAGING: Shrink wrap on low heat; quickly hit the edges, wait a minute, then hit them once more. NOTE: The flowers I used were pre-dried & won't rot, but they may turn different colors. Test flowers before so you don’t ruin an entire batch TIPS: *Don’t put too many flowers on the first floral layer. *Make sure there aren’t any flowers in front of the letters. *Make sure quote/paper lays perfectly flat. *Put quote directly in the middle of the soap. *For invisible paper lines, cut paper to meet all edges of the mold. *Fingerprints are noticeable on [clear] front, so handle back/sides until wrapped.
COMMON QUESTIONS: "What about the paper in the middle?" This paper is dissolving paper so it wouldn't be a problem anyways. And it's directly in the middle of the soap. So, when soap gets down to a thin sliver of a piece (with the paper in the center), throw it away!
UPDATE: It's been over a year now & the flowers haven't rotted. They did, however, turn a small area surrounding them kind of yellowish.

Hi there, yes botanicals do mold in mp soap. You want to be really careful with using them because who wants to rub mold on their skin. Bluck! Lol But there are a few botanicals that you can use that do really well in mp soap and they don’t turn yucky colors. Calendula petals, and any color of cornflower petals do awesome. Also just as a side note.. you don’t want to ever use anything in mp that contains any moisture like milks or fruits etc. Mp soap has already gone through saponification. So unlike cp soap… ur ingredients won’t be preserved. They will just rot. 😊

These are beautiful designs and the inspirational quotes really finish them off perfectly. I'm at the very beginning of my soap making journey and recently watched another soaper on here that made beautiful soaps, allowing each layer to fully dry before starting the next. However, theirs ended up falling apart between the layers because they had let theirs fully dry. Have you ever found this happen to your layered designs or does the alcohol keep it from happening?

Alcohol helps. It doesn't need to fully dry between layers, it mainly needs to have a skin on the layer. This doesn't take long, maybe a minute or two if the soap isn't too hot. Pour layer, spray with alcohol, let it rest a minute or two check for skin. If there is a skin then spray with alcohol, pour next layer, but check the temp to be sure next layer isn't too hot first before pouring. Spray that layer with alcohol, etc.

Thanks so much! Flowers will have to be tested as they react differently to heat & time. Oranges should be fine. I made this a while back & mine have NOT molded… however, the flowers have discolored a bit. Still very pretty tho! Store in a cool dry place out of the sun & direct heat.

Flowers turn black due to the natural oxidization process. I'd suggest using flowers that are naturally dark... Black Cornflower, very dark roses....

Wait until it’s fully cooled/hard then wrap. Shelf life is a while. However after a few months some of my flowers turned yellowish & some didn’t change at all

I've never experienced this yet.... So, I honestly don't know why that would happen. My best guess would be something added to the soap, maybe a specific fragrance, too much fragrance ate the images/words over time.. Maybe they were exposed to extreme temps, or maybe they just got old. I couldn't say for sure, but if I find out more, or if this happens to mine- I'll let you know!
