Yes, slightly. Enough to matter? Probably not. The outside edge of the "C" is under compression; the inside under tension. To minimize weakening, move the capture holes outboard and use a smaller diameter 'pin' e.g. a roll pin. A large spring between the boards near the clamp, arranged to push the boards appart, teamed with magnets within the padding blocks will help with handling/wrangling, and storage.

What a brilliant clamp! I like it. I've just screwed a thin wooden wedge under my router, this way I can cut at an angle. Cheap and simple but it worked. Great video, thanx.
