@@ellenfrostflowers I have a lot of mason jars but somehow the notion that it's passé has kept me away from arranging in them. I know it shouldn't. And your video inspired me to go ahead and use them! Love your flower arrangement videos using locally sourced flowers. Would love to learn how to get a longer vase life.

Very nicely done and simply explained. All of the filler and flower shapes and sizes you used are in my field. There is tons of Variegated Solomon’s Seal which can sub for eucalyptus! I almost gave up on mason jars but I see now it was me, not the jars😂

Hi Ellen, thanks so much for educating us, such a great video!! I'll be making 14 mason jar flower centerpieces for a baby shower. I'm wondering if the quart size jars (that I need to purchase along with the flowers) are cost effective, or would 16 oz jars also look good. I do want them to look great, just not be to costly for a 3 hour celebration, as I'm purchasing so many other items. Thanks so much, Laurie 😊
@ellenfrostflowers5 ай бұрын
The first thing to consider is the size of the table, that will really determine what size centerpiece will be idea. There is not a lot of difference between a wide mouth quart and a wide mouth pint in terms of the number of stems you need. The difference really shows up when you're choosing a regular mouth jar (either quart or pint) to a wide mouth jar. If you want to go smaller, but still keep the height, try a regular mouth quart.

New to your channel, this is so helpful. I would like to understand your design process with height/length of each type of flower. The end design is beautiful, but how did you decide the height of larkspur, compared to the feverfew, etc? Is it by color? or full/airy-ness of the types? Thank you!
@ellenfrostflowers6 ай бұрын
Great question! I always let the line flowers (like larkspur, snaps, stock be taller so that you can see their line/shape. Things like feverfew are more like filler and I like to cut them shorter so they are more in the background. I like them as a backdrop to the focal flowers.

Hey Ellen - what temperature of water do you use? I've heard hot, room temp -
@ellenfrostflowers6 ай бұрын
hi! For most arrangements I just do room temp water. If I'm trying get flowers to open faster like tulips or peonies, I might use warmer water.
