Question/Suggestion: My workflow is very similar, the major exception being that I do a "gross adjustment" for exposure prior to the masking steps where I try to place the major subject either center histogram, or more likely, I adjust overall exposure for the main subject to what's pleasing to the eye, hopefully lessening the amount of masking later on. For instance, photo #1 was slightly underexposed(?) for the woman, so my first step would be to increase the exposure on her while observing ONLY the woman, ignoring background, and get that about perfect in all regards, then select a mask inverted for the background, and perform the background masking steps. Opposite steps on photo #2, as it appears "hot" as well as a bit overexposed, so I would turn the entire image down first, then mask the background. This might(?) shorten your workflow, and maybe(?) it's gentler on the image? I really appreciate your videos, both in content, length, and editing. Keep up the good work!

Mate… that is really impressive (as usual).. I think Lightroom has come into its own following the introduction of masking. It’s so much more flexible as you have often shown .. What really really frustrates me is the slowness of Lightroom, especially when you’re waiting for an edit to take affect and you get that spinning colour wheel.. Nightmare!!! Can you do a session on Lightroom maintenance and how to keep Lightroom tip top? I for one would be extremely grateful… cheers

For me, the first turned out more "real" (as in you added at least a key light). I would have brightened up the second's blackout another 15-20% to make it more realistic. Great tips though for sure; thanks!

Great video. It’s just amazing what you can do with those new masks. Now that I have watch this video, and your previous video, converting to B& W, can you do a video on how to change the “ Color “ of the background. Perhaps how to import backgrounds and adjust it. Great workflow example and I've used the new masking feature in ACR as well. Certainly not a criticism, because I know how subjective this subject can be, but I think that I would have highlighted her dark, beautiful hair (maybe brush a little shadow) to bring out the midtones and detail (of her hair), thus popping her more off the background. It could be my screen or KZbin, but her hair, especially in the top left seems to be lost with the dark background. She's certainly a beautiful model with fabulous hair.
