A great tutorial of a spectacular quilt pattern. Over the past several years Misty has grown very confident and polished as a designer, teacher and presenter. She is a great member of the MSQC team, and a real asset to the Quilting Community. 💖

I love the Ohio Star quilts of any variations. Tip: to make 4 patch, sew a print and background 10" square together on 2 opposite sides. Then cut it into 2 3/4" strips measuring from edges not seam lines. That way you have 2 strips already sewn together. I'm an assembly sewer. Anything that can save me a step, I'll try it. Also I can do a bunch of these before I take a break.

Great tutorial. I love seeing the dark background used with such bright prints. It turned out just beautiful. I do wish you ladies would offer more quilt-as-you-go tutorials and patterns for us. I'm just starting out and a bit limited on what I can afford as far as quilting goes. The cost of a long arm service just isn't in my budget right now.

Oddly, when I first saw this, the sound wasn't working. I was just waking up, and looked at the finished project, not knowing what it was all about. First, the black pattern with an on-point square and a sideways "t" on either side appeared horizontally, then the vertical. My brain commented "that's a strange pattern". Next, i saw the square-in-a-square block with the black as the outer square, and my brain said "what is going on here with this complicated layout?" Finally the beautiful large Ohio star popped out followed by a kind of Irish chain. I was delighted! I refreshed the video and got sound. Was i shocked to hear you say it was all two easy blocks! Thanks for the fun start to a new day.

This quilt is so classy. I don't like alot of white in my quilts. I have White sheets, white comforter & white blanket & I love to bleach things but from an artistic standpoint the jeweltones & blacks really stand out & turn tradition to modern.

Lovely! Super impressed with how tidy your units are after such a quick press. I set my seams, finger press open, and then press the seam, and I am so slow, and your blocks look so much tidier!! Granted I have only been quilting for a couple months so maybe I just need to keep it up and get years of quilting under my belt like you 😅
@melindaostergren81152 жыл бұрын
Consider not pressing your seams open as they are less study as the way you see here. I had a doy‼️ moment when I was first learning to quilt. I did each block all the way through instead of doing production sewing. I recommend you watch Donna Jordan’s channel for more tips on production sewing. She also is an excellent teacher. You’ll find your speed and accuracy will really increase by combining ideas from MSQC and Donna Jordan. Congratulations on joining the quilting community. It’s a splendid place to be.

Hi Misty! This quilt is stunning with the black background! I have a question about your pressing mat. Thank you for this tutorial!!
