To further the discussion on this kit I have a great hack or add on, costs a couple dollars. If you use a different size pot or small frying pan it covers the opening and compresses the flame. So I bought the Toaks Titanium wood stove cross bars. The notches in them just happen to be in the right place and straddle the rim of the red housing perfectly. Now you have a cross support that elevates the bottom of the pot and allows flames to spread out across the bottom. As a bonus they fit inside the kit with Trangia and lighter all together.

FYI: the boiling point of water (typically listed as 212'F / 100'C) is affected by several factors: Air pressure tends to have the greatest influence on boiling temperature. The air pressure at sea level is nominally 14.7 psia, however local weather conditions can vary the local air pressure from less than 14 psia to over 15 psia. Barometric pressure (as reported in a weather forecast) is exactly this (although it's typically reported in inches of Mercury in the United States). In addition to local weather conditions, altitude greatly affects air pressure; the greater your altitude (above sea level), the lower the air pressure. The boiling point of water is less than 200'F in Denver, CO (and less than 180'F at the top of Pikes Peak, CO). In addition to air pressure, the purity of the water will influence the boiling point. Things in the water (other than H2O - e.g. dissolved minerals, etc.) will affect the boiling point. 212'F/100'C is the boiling point of pure H2O at 14.7 psia Bottom line, using a thermometer set to 212'F my not be the most accurate way to measure boiling time. Something as simple as a pending storm (e.g. a "low pressure system is moving into the area" as reported in the local weather forecast) will drop the boiling point of water.

Never thought I’d like an alcohol stove, but this was a game changer... Even better, the GSI Infinity Mug nests perfectly inside. This is my go to for a day hike with my wife & son. I am able to get 3x 2cup boils out of a filled Trangia- perfect for “Ramen Bombs” and don’t need to carry extra fuel. 😊

I’ve been watching your channel for while, enjoying the learning and your approach. I bought one of these along with a Redcamp Alcohol Stove and used it on a backcountry ski 3 days ago. I boiled a full 16oz of water in 6 minutes, at 5800ft elevation, minus 12 deg Celsius ( 10 deg F). In a breezy, somewhat sheltered location in a valley bottom. I was pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed my warm drink while enjoying spectacular views in the Canadian Rockies. I appreciate the videos and the information shared, that helped encourage me to try and alcohol stove. 👍

Great review and recommendation, I bought one for my Trangia. This is the most efficient system for an alcohol stove for boiling water, the pot with the fins has a lot to do with it. In -1 Celsius it boiled a full 500 mls of water in just over 5 mins, twice as fast as my previous set up.

Like you I like stoves and cook kits. I bought one because it is a very nice design. The lid is a little overkill. I’ve used it on a couple of quick overnighters just to make coffee in the morning. I’ve never tried it with alcohol, I’ll give it a try.

As a fellow Louisianian and outdoors stove freak it is nice to find another one of me. Prior to a residential fire in 2017 I had over 40 stoves for outdoor/camping use. I have replaced some of them and my new equipment selection is much smaller than the original, but I still have the capability to go literally anywhere in any season and effectively cook. I wish we could meet (I live in Baton Rouge) so that I could show you my various systems. My ultralightweight is my favorite with my Arctic-Extreme Cold Weather my second. Good luck with your channel and I hope we meet on the trail.

Your interesting demonstration inspired me to experiment with my msr wind burner pot (the one with the cozy sleeve) over a toaks siphon alcohol stove inside my nano. Sitting on the nano’s floor with the legs turned inside it boiled 2 cups of water in just over 5 minutes. The Toaks with a little more head space focused the flame directly at the pots bottom instead of wrapping flames around the pot! That was cool!

Love the Sterno Cook kit, not so much with the Sterno fuel. Already had the Fancy Feast "cat can" alcohol stove that I use with my Solo Stove Lite. Purchased another Fancy Feast alcohol stove to use with the Sterno Cook kit. With either cook systems along with the "cat can stove" I'm a happy camper with both cooking options. With the Solo Stove, I also have the option of using wood pieces / twigs to cook food or boil water. Appreciate your time and energy that you take for posting your videos ~

I ordered it Saturday and received it 2 days later :) Now listed at $24.95 on Ebay, but appears to be totally worth it. I intentionally used a small can of tomato paste and purchased a can of Fancy Feast even though I don't have pets! Had to throw the cat food in the trash because I don't know anyone who can use it. ha! I plan to review your homemade cat can video to find the best height of the tomato paste can. Can't wait to give it a try. I'm digging this sterno inferno that you are showcasing. Thanks for your stove addiction. Just got my Sterno and use it with a fancy feast burner and it's a monster! The only down side is the crazy heavy lid, the floppy support legs (I replaced the rivets with ss screws and lock nuts) and the ml measurements on the pot are crazy wrong! Not a deal breaker though. Super fast boiling rig with virtually no bloom delay.

In the Evernew Titanium v Trangia video, the Evernew boiled in 10:21. In the Evernew Titanium v Chinese clone video, the Evernew boiled in 8:24. That's a difference that could be due to environmental factors, and not significant. But, using this Sterno Inferno system, the same stove boiled in 4:52! That's between 42% and 53% quicker! I'd say this is well worth the $23 cost.

I need to see if the windscreen will fit inside my Toaks 900 ml pot. $25 for a solid potstand/ windscreen is not a bad price at all. Depending on how long a sterno can will last 12 minutes is not very long. Looking at cost versus total burn time sterno may be cheaper and as efficient as alchohol by the numbers. GREAT VIDEO!!

Just bought one off Amazon. $31 and 30 to $32 off other sights. Still cheap! Plan to use with my cat can and Batchstovez Gram Weenie alcohol stoves as well as BRS 300T with a DIY Aluminum support ring (just pot not the stand/windscreen - maybe a DYI one). Will be interesting to see how the pot does vs my usual TOAKS 650ml. I see less equaling less weight to offset extra weight of pot and screen (if used).

Well I just got my Sterno Inferno from Amazon and, tested it out using my Fancee Feast alcohol stove. One ounce of fuel from the Yellow bottle from HEET and 16 ounces of water with the provided cup that came with the Sterno Inferno. The tradewinds here in Hawaii were running quite brisk but water boiled at approximately 4 minutes and 40 seconds. Thanks for your time and energy in presenting the Sterno Inferno so I'll be adding it to my collection of other stove products that use Coleman, HEET and wood for fuel sources. Stoked!

That was a really interesting test using a alcohol burner with this kit. I have a jet boil system that has those heat dispersant vanes for use with its iso-butane/propane stove. If only I could get that bottom adapter this sterno stove uses it would a great addition to my trangia alcohol stove systems. Unfortunately the manufacturer has stop making the sterno inferno, and not available on Amazon or eBay!

I've mine since Nov. 19. The instructions says quite clearly "no methanol". For gods sake I'm not using this poisonus stuff, I'm using ethanol! Hehe. Be aware with some burners you'll force a thermal runaway! The Vargo Titan does it. The Out-D and the Fancy Feast Stove are much to powerful and the flames will shoot out of the grills of the pot's bottom. The Trangia is just right. You can use the stove with a Trangia also with the gray bottom part, which gives more stability. And the Sterno chocker disk you showed, fits into the gray part and locks there if you fold the legs back together.

Always enjoy the reviews, felt the need to comment on this one since good ole Hiram and others caught the potential of runaway alchy stoves, dangerous situation. Plus you didn't comment it's in manual warning list of do not do. Also not anodized, not on my box. But for the wimpy short alchy stoves perhaps not dangerous, indeed good shield and fins.

I have had one of these for a couple of years now, and mine and the other ones that I have seen are indeed anodized, they just were a lighter color. If you are sure your pot isn't, I would look in to exchanging it. I even verified the anodized status with the company that actually designed it, machineartmoto.

I've used a Trangia spirit burner for maybe 20 years....in all conditions both fair and foul.....never once had a "runaway" event. In the one and only video I've seen on the matter the flame goes yellow, then you hear sizzling, then it pops. Makes me strongly suspect something other than alcohol made it into the fuel cup.

This works great with the BSR 2000 if you slightly bend the pot sopports so they fit between the fins. Poor man's Jetboil. Boils 2 cups in just over 2 minutes. About storing alcohol in the triangia or other alcohol stoves with a screw on lid. I have a lighter that uses regular lighter fluid. I have had it filled up and stored for 6 months and it still lights and burns like I just filled it yesterday. So, storing alcohol in the stove might not be that bad.
