Make Any Image into an SVG using Illustrator for Glowforge Laser Cutter Engraver

This week we upped our Glowforge Pro game by using Illustrator to convert a JPG into an SVG! We took a picture from Pinterest and converted into an SVG using the Illustrator Trace Image tool. Then, gave the laser scoring lines a blue stroke and the laser cut lines a red stroke. Exported the design as an SVG. Used the Glowforge UI App to import the SVG as a cut file. Selected the red layer for laser cutting, and selected the blue layer for laser scoring. Then, we cut out an 18" MDF round using our X-carve.
We created a new DIY 3D Front Door hanger and made it available as a new kit for our store! We've used our Glowforge a couple of times now and have learned some new tips and tricks. In this video we show you how you can use Adobe Illustrator to make customized home decor!

I watched another KZbinr who recommends FabriTac instead of E6000-she said it sets much faster and doesn’t ooze. I’m anxious to try it at some point. Also, Shannon from Daily DIY has been using some awesome Super Glue products instead of E6000.

Love the sign! You guys are one of my favs on the tube. QQ: how do you keep the glue from bleeding? I made several signs and try to put as little glue as possible on the back of my words but I always have to clean up the glue in between.
